I have not had a single isue with my phone, I rave about this phone to all my IPhone using friends, but recenlty I downloaded some Christmas ringtones and notification sounds that work for a day or so and then just disapear!  The ringtone reverts to some plain ring and there is no notification for incoming messages, etc.  What is going on???

expert i am not, thought i think this might help you. When charging the driod from another usb device, i recommend plugging it to your fios reciever box, rather than a comptuer. The pc is always infeccted with microsoft hatters, wich design software to ruin any thing it can leach on to. Now worst case senerio, there is a setting on the phone that allows You to do a usb charge, and set your phone to only aloow it to "charge only". It should shut off of all usb connection between ur phone and the device u connecting it to. the phone should only use the usb IO to charge.

i also recommend buying a droid docking station. Connect it to your pc and then your phone will have a ip adress/mac adress defense (not really ip/or mac adress, but there is no other way to explain it). i guess it would be a technolgy firewall.

tho if the hatter really want to run verizon drivers, user really dont have any defense.

As far as application for ring tones, we are a ll guiny pigs for software developer. When downloading any apps, widget, gadgets, and andriod software, the market widget on your phone has three option tabs, try to only use the verizon tab, this way we all can build a leagal defense with verizon to deliver reliabilty. "Rule Reliabilty Verizon"

Now there is a great mobile ring tone mobile website that allows you to create your own ring tones, for any phone, im going look for it and attempt not to crash my phone, and i let you know what happen.

Happened to me while using Zedge app, thought it was the app so I uninstalled.  It just needed a battery pull, now all is good.

Also, you have to set up your zedge ringtones again when the zedge program updates.

I would think that it is the apps and not the Droid X which is causing the problem. If you are not experiencing problems with any other ringtone, I would definitely point to the apps.

Ok, so now I am noticing that it seems to be hapening only when or after my phone has been charging from my pc....  But its wierd, the ringtones totally disapear, I mean, when you go into settings and sounds, the Christmas songs are not even there to choose.  I'm missing a piece to the puzzle somewhere.  The ringtones are from 2 entirely different apps.  Why would plugging my phone into the pc to charge, change anything?  I still ❤️ this phone!

There could be something on Ur pc that is possibly wiping them out  I would only charge from the charger that came with the Droid X:  the reason for doing this The charger that comes with the X will charge it like its supposed to Charged and at the end of the charging cycle will go trickle charge And Won't over Charge:  so its Best to use it only.

Keep in mind that the ringers are not accessable when you are using the Mass Stoage option because the ringers are stored on the SD Card and becomes unavaliable when connected to pc and the phone automatically converts to default notice to avoid missing a notification or call.  Usually restarting will resolve.

Honestly? I don't think a ten year old is NOT old enough for a cell phone, any cell phone let alone a mini computer such as the DROID X.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I was having the same problem with music I downloaded and designated as ringtones.  I would completely lose them.  However, if I removed the battery and re-started the phone, everything was alright.  I haven't experienced the same problem lately.
