But I read up on some threads that seemed to indicate that if Verizon is not satisfied with the condition of the phone you are returning, they may charge you full price for it.
I didn't keep my phone in a case, but the screen is pristine (screen protector) and the phone is in generally great condition. There is only a very slight blemish on the bottom right corner of the phone about 1mm X 1mm where the black paint has come off, probably from falling on a hard surface.
I don't think this would be something that should cause them to charge me full price for it, but I just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with this and can quell my fears.
Thanks

From what I know there looking for major things. Also I think they charge the difference between full price and what you paid for it or $299. I have heard both.

One more question, if the refurb comes with a new standard battery, do I get to keep it, and return my old battery?

This is a somewhat old post, but the refurbished phone will not come with a battery. (unless they send a different model). You would take out your battery and put it in the new one.
