I'm getting an "unable to play this type of audio file" message.

I have a ton of music on my Incredible but don't listen too often. I tried the other day and keep getting the message that it's unable to play or can't find any music. Music files are MP3 and m4a files but I never had a problem in the past. Does anyone know if a recent upgrade changed something or if I need an App, etc.?
