I've Never Seen a Larger Bunch Of Cry Babies...

I just happen to stumble across Verizons Forums, and I have a few things to say.  First, Verizon Customer Support is the best you can get out of any phone company out there.

4G issues.  Most of you probably were still wearing diapers when 3G was introduced but basically many of the same problems you see today were experienced with 3G as well.

These forums are not used to resolve issues.  If you truly want help with your problem and don't want to do anything else but complain, then try one of the non Verizon Forums like My Droid World where you can get knowledgeable people who will answer your questions and probably teach you more about your phone then you ever could imagine.

Finally if you think you're in the majority with dissatisfied customers then think again.  For every 2 people that are happy with their product they will tell two others.  But let one person how in snot happy get an issue and is not satisfied and it will go on for thousands of complaints to others via Internet.

As far as technical support goes over the phone Verizon is lacking a bit there I will agree, but in the matter of keeping their customers happy they will do everything they can to help.

One last thing:  Do not go into a Verizon Store with our issue.  Let them handle it at *611.  Remember, Verizon handles a lot of different phones so there support reps are not focused on just your Bionic.  A good forum Like My Droid World will have people who can give you good solid advice to assist you with your phone.

I've had my Bionic since last October and I'm very pleased with it.  Yes, I've seen outages but probably not that many but then again I'm on wifi a lot.  I don't dispute your complaint just the way you go about handling it.

I'll give you that it's among the best. They always solved my problems to my satisfaction....But...

You certainly need to get a better timeline on this sort of statement.  There were problems with Morse Code. Diapers had nothing to do with it

These forums are a source of info between users. Lots of users' issues have been solved here. If you weren't so focused on looking at what I call the "venters" (The users that just use the place and the readers as a punching bag for their frustrations), you'd see a lot more positive things going on here.

Finally if you think you're in the majority with dissatisfied customers then think again.  For every 2 people that are happy with their product they will tell two others.  But let one person how in snot happy  (say WHAT??) get an issue and is not satisfied and it will go on for thousands of complaints to others via Internet.

You are contradicting yourself with these two paragraphs. Is tech support, sometimes called "*611"  lacking or not? As for store support, I have a great local Verizon store staffed with geeks like myself that have been great at helping me with issues, except for the Bionic, whch, I promise you, I'll come back to in a moment. The point about the other Droid Forums is well-taken and good advice.

Your tone of response here isn't exactly inspiring or comforting, either. You are not talking to a 3rd grade class of beginning band students (I grew up in that environment). You are addressing adults that buy these devices based on wonderful glowing ads designed to show people how much better their lives can be by using these devices. And for the very most part, it's true. When issues arise, some tackle their issues with reason and logic, some tackle it like those third-graders. It's life and all of your pontificating and talking down to people, right ir wrong won't change and in fact, will turn off people to any legitimate points or help that you might be able to offer.

Now about that Bionic....

First, if your Bionic has served you well, I won't call you a liar or Moto fanboy or Verizon employee. I will take you unassumingly at your word.  And I expect the same disposition from you when I relate (as briefly as possible, which won't be easy, I tell you) MY experience with the Bionic

I've had many phones since 1992.  I had iPhones, the original Moto Droid, and the Droid X. All of those were great phones and worked as promised. But the Bionic, okay, MY Bionic, again, BionicS (3 of 'em) were nightmares. Activation problems (4G-related), dropping data signal requiring a re-boot to re-establish, random reboots, dropped phone calls, freezing up requiring a battery pull. These are real problems. You can search my name (not much recently because of the new stupid forum format) and see that I behaved like an adult while discussing those problems. You may or may not approve of my solution, which was to get an iPhone 4S (at FULL retail, didn't bat an eye doing it, either) and be done with it.

I've certainly done my share of this sort of posting, but I don't discount the good that comes from user forums such as this one and the back and forth of ideas that goes on within. Let's not be so hasty as to write off real people with real issues and their quest for real problems.

I'm another of the silent majority of satisfied Bionic owners.

How do I know we're a majority -- an overwhelming majority?  Because people are much much more likely to post a complaint than praise.  People who are happy/satisfied with a product just happily use it without needing to say anything about it.

If, as the complainers say, the Bionic is bad in general then why aren't there thousands -- or at least hundreds -- of complaints posted on this forum or the Bionic forum on Motorola?  And the complaints actually number in the dozens.

What?  People don't know about or can't find the forums to post a complaint?  Well, if they can't then they're not smart enough to own a smartphone...they probably just don't know how to use it.

Ever read Engadget?  They frequently run stories about phones that are having problems...and yet there have been no such "problem" stories on Engadget regarding the Bionic.  More evidence that the problems are not widespread.

As far as "other phones" go, it's funny how memory is very selective.  Remember the iPhone 4 -- the one that had a poor signal if you didn't hold it in a particular way?  This problem was big enough the Lord Steve himself addressed it: "You're holding it wrong", was his brilliant response.  Nevertheless, even though those silly iPhone users should have simply held the phone as their Lord commanded them, Apple eventually responded by issuing free edge covers so users fingers didn't touch the antenna.

What?  Most people didn't have a problem with their iPhone 4?

Yep, just like the Bionic.

As for the poster who said "You are addressing adults that buy these devices based on wonderful glowing ads designed to show people how much better their lives can be by using these devices."

  1. How do you know that the forum is populated by adults?  You only know that you're an adult (I guess...).  Why post stuff that you don't know to be true?
  2. Really? You buy devices based on ads that say it will improve your lives?  Wow!  Anyone who buys anything based on those kinds of ads is not as smart as the phone.

Regarding your literal interpretations of what you read.

I hope no one ever tells you to go jump in the lake.

Or go butt a stump...

Or to do something vulgar to yourself....(I never, ever would, but it's a bog mean world....
