I did the 2.2 update today and my phone has frozen up on me several time, I have had to perform a master reset. Phone froze while trying to activate the phone again took almost an hour to get the phone fully active, in a matter of 20 minutes my phone went from having 3/4 battery life to dead.

Not surprising that it took a while to get going after a factory reset. Froyo automatically redownloads your apps, settings, etc on first boot so it can take 30-45min or more for everything to start running smoothly, maybe longer if you're using 3G instead of wifi to sync everything.

Got my update on Sunday morning and updated without issue. Ran Froyo 2.2 for 3 days never turning off the phone. It's my primary line so I never turn it off. Turned it off to board a flight this morning and it hasn't worked since. Just keeps freezing/locking or rebooting. Sometimes it will turn on sometimes it just sits with the moto logo and has to have the battery pulled.
At first I was able to make a few calls and it would run for 5-10 minutes, but now it won't stay active for more than a minute. Tried a factory reset to no avail. It's basically a brick. Which really **bleep** me off since I kind of need my phone while away on business. Went into a store here and they said they will ship a new phone to my office to be waiting for me when I get back Friday. Which means I'm probably getting a POS refurb.

It should be in the app drawer if you hit the little icon with all the squares on the home screen. You can also hit the Menu button while on the home screen and you should be able to select Settings there too.

The 2.2 update absolutely killed my phone. It is obvious it just doesn't have the computing power to handle the new OS. Why they won't just admit it and retrograde the software i do not know. This is ridiculous! I am on my 3rd yes 3rd phone in 2 weeks. They keep sending me these refurbished pieces o'crap that all do the same thing because it is becoming painfully clear that the hardware is simply not compatible with the software. It can't be an app because i haven't even had time to get any apps on the phone. They took the droid that i loved and bragged about to everyone and turned it into garbage. it now freezes, responds slowly and after it is powered off, it takes at least an hour and about a half dozen battery removals to get it to boot up at all. Which is especially frustrating because i fly twice a week and have to power down my phone. The verizon guy's solution? "well just put it in airplane mode". Yeah right, try telling that to a stewardess that has the power to call the feds if you don't do what she says when she says Turn it OFF!!. I doubt i could even sell this thing because everyone knows it just doesn't work with the new software.

I installed 2.2 on my DROIDX just after midnight, it rebooted itself and all looked fine. I shut it off and went to bed. This morning when I tried to turn it on all I saw was an infinite M. The thing was functional in some respects, for example if someone called me it rang and it made its alert sounds when a scheduled appointment time came due, but the screen just showed M. I pulled the battery and put it back and the phone booted up OK, so I shut it off again to see what it would do next. Same thing. Another battery pull, and another repeat. This time I'm leaving it on. Otherwise, it works fine. Battery management seems better than before, Flash works fine on the browser, etc. I'm just afraid to turn it off. By the way, my phone is pretty much the way it came out of the box - standard browser, no funny stuff, etc. I have a few Market apps on it, but my son's Incredible has all of them plus a lot more and he's running 2.2 on his phone with no problem. The problem is with the upgrade, not my apps.

It's not an app. I factory reset the phone which removes all the apps. It's plugged in (AC outlet charger) next to my laptop and I've watched it reboot itself 4 times in the past 10 minutes. Right now it's just sitting on the M screen

OTA arrived last Tuesday, I woke my phone first thing in the morning & it was waiting.
I turned off ADW Launcher and reverted back to a stock Home screen when the OTA arrived.
THEN I let it update. I clicked "Install" and went downstairs to let my two dogs out and grap a cup of coffee.
By the time I came back up my Droid was already sitting at the new Home screen - total install time & reboot was UNDER 4 minutes. It's performed flawlessly since, better than new. I switched ADW back on and everything was exactly as I left it.
I have had zero problems, and seen nothing but improvements.
The browser and GPS apps are especially fast. No Wi-fi issues, no lag of any kind, and no battery issues.
In fact, the battery life seems to have actually improved. The overall speed -definitely- has.
Everything works as expected and it just flies.
Just lucky I guess.

If you are getting 8 hours consider yourself lucky. I only get 5. Verizon is sending me a new phone, i'm not sure that will fix the problem.
