Incredible at constant rebooting

Very disappointed.

Constant rebooting. Process of elimination points toward overheating.

Suggestions?

I'm at the point where I'm thinking about dumping the whole arrangement and jumping to someone else.

Well overheating did not cause mine to get in that loop and it did it after the phone was no longer active. I did a master reset and all is good again.

Did you Possibly Let the Battery go completly Down to were it Died an an at the Time was running a Music App or something like that.  Why i Asked an this is the first time i ever let my Incredible go to were it Drained the Battery an at the Time was Running Tune in Radio. It got into a Rebooting process an all it would Do is power up Play the Droid Tune an thats it. I  thought it was Doomed untill i did a Factory Reset.  So you may have to take this Route to fix the Issue.

But good luck Too ya. !  an Hope you getter goin again. :smileyvery-happy:

Thanks for the reply, but your description doesn't mirror my experience. My "Incorrigible" loop reboots under any/all circumstances: connected to network and not, streaming, playing installed games, SD card in/out, etc., etc., battery fully charged and less.  The only way to shut it down is to pull the battery and let it sit for awhile, or stick it in the freezer while it's rebooting which kicks it out of the looping thing. These "cures" have led me to the "overheating" diagnosis which would suggest a design flaw or manufacturing error. Many people are lucky enough not to have received a faulty phone. I enjoyed mine before it turned bad. Many people, on the other hand, got a bad product for their money. I doubt any "flaw" will be discovered..too costly to recall as many of these as have been sold and started to malfunction (postings here and other places suggest many).

Overheating which is resulting in the loop may be caused by an app that is corrupt or is causing a conflict.

The looping Dinx and myself spoke about was one that you could never get out of, no matter what.

Here's what mine will do it at times works great as long as I don't use it for anything! LOL! Mine will go into the looping reboot problem, yes sometimes when it gets hot and sometimes when I go into usually internet, facebook or the market, and then it starts it reboot issue.

Called Verizon they told me to do a master reset! Did that powered down and started rebooting worse. Called them back and the lady said that it is probably a software issue, and as you can imagine they no longer make this phone so no more updates. I am out of my warranty and as far as I am concerned I am SOL.

So if you are outside of your warranty good luck there is no fix for this problem as far as I can see, and there is a lot of the same problem going on if you read all of the blogs.

But if you would like to upgrade to a new phone Verizon would be glad to help you with that at least that's what they told me.

Good Luck

Erik

Of course they're willing to let you upgrade, it locks you into anoth contract for two more years.

I've got the same problem and one of the on line techs said they are aware of the problem and I should

ask for a different model.  The Verizon store said no can do and they know nothing about the problem and wanted to factory reboot a NEW phone just received and rebooted three days before.

P.S. they are sending me another NEW rebuilt phone.

Hi mboyd,

I understand your discontent about the rebooting issue outlined on your post. As our forum members indicate (Thanks!) this issue may be caused by a third party application and may also be resolved by performing a factory reset.

I recommend running your phone in Safe Mode for a few hours. Safe Mode temporarily disables all applications that have been installed via the Android Market. Performing this troubleshooting step is necessary to determine whether a 3rd party application is the cause of an Operating System / Application issue. Safe Mode should always be performed prior to a hard (factory) reset.

If running your phone in safe mode does not resolve the issue, try doing a Hard Reset as this troubleshooting step has resolve rebooting issues for other customers. Please note that performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. Data stored in your SD Memory card will not be affected.

My phone has been having the same issue and is making me really frustrated.  I have taken my phone to two different verizon stores.  The first one the guy helping me just asked if my contacts were saved and I told them they were on the SD card.  He then must have hard reset my phone because I lost everything.  I lost all my apps, music, and photos.  He was able to upload my contacts back from my SD card but everything else was lost forever which made me very upset because I was not informed about this only about my contacts and I lost pictures and videos of my dog who has passed.  Not only did this make me upset but it did not resolve my problem at all as my phone still gets stuck in a reboot loop.  I have tried taking the battery out and leaving it out for even an hour and nothing is working.  It then would restart itself and delete everything off of my home screens.  So now I havent put any apps back on my phone and am still having issues. When I took it to the other store they told me there was nothing they could do and since my phone is out of warranty and I am not eligible for an upgrade until February, I would have to buy a replacement phone.  This is frustrating because replacement phones are not cheap and if i decide to keep this phone until Feb. then I'll be paying for a data package for nothing since my phone won't go on the internet without restarting itself.  It is really a pain when a phone doesnt last past a year and you can only get a new phone every two years.  If there is anyone who knows the solution to this reboot problem I would greatly appreciate the help since I don't really have it in my budget to buy a new phone as I am a college student.

Hi Pintobean1221,

I am truly sorry for the frustrations you have encountered, and I completely understand how devastated you must have felt when you lost the pictures of your dog.

I have researched this issue and I did find that reboots were occurring when users were downloading something or watching videos. Your posting did not seem to mention that this was the case with you, so I wanted to address your concerns further. I would like to ask a couple of questions, if I may.

When did this start happening?

Do you remember if you downloaded anything right before the rebooting started?

Does the phone reboot every time you attempt to use data, or do you have the ability to use data sometimes?

I would like to complete some troubleshooting of my own, and check your options for you. If you could please send me a PM with your contact information, I will be more than happy to contact you personally.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

I am also having the same issue as all the other individuals on this forum. I have been very tolerant of this issue and just dealing with removing the battery and waiting for it to cool before putting it back in to use. I've done several factory resets before but the solution only works for 2 weeks at most before the rebooting happens again. I've come to a point where I have no additional apps besides what came with the phone and it still happens.

I've gone to the VZW stores and they have said they could not help me.

At this point I think my phone is finally dead. The Hard reset does not work anymore, as in it doesn't even occur when I hold the volumn down button when I start the phone. And now once in the phone, it is stuck in an endless loop with an error message that says "Sorry, the application HTC Sense (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." That message is in an endless loop and I can't even go to the main menues.

I am ready to throw the phone into the wall.
