Incredible not receiving calls/ringing when in sleep mode

I skimmed back about six pages but got frustrated, so please forgive me if this has already been covered.
I got my Incredible last week, and since I've had it I don't receive phone calls or notifications when the phone is in sleep mode. All my contacts are set to the default ringtone. I have this problem even when I have the phone set to vibrate. I realized I've missed calls only when I bring the phone out of sleep mode. Is this a setting I have screwed up somewhere? Anyone else having this problem with the Incredible?
I've Googled and seen that some people have had similar problems with other Android phones, but so far I've found nothing that might help me. This phone is both my personal and work phone, and I really can't afford to be missing calls, texts, or emails. Thank you.

I have not had this issue. Do you have an app killer program loaded?

Not that I know of...sorry to be so ignorant, but this is my first smartphone (I was wating for one I realy liked). The only apps I have are the various Google apps, Facebook, a couple of games, and an uninstaller. What, specifically, is an app killer?
If the uninstaller I downloaded turns out to be an app killer, I'll feel really dumb...

Okay, I see now that an app killer prevents applications from running in the background--I can safely say that I do NOT have an app killer installed.
I am feeling slightly less dumb, now--but my phone still isn't ringing or notifying me when it's in sleep mode. I can't go through my day constantly keeping it awake just so I won't miss a call.

I don't have an answer for you but my phone is doing the same thing. I just installed the an app killer but it was doing it before that. At first I just thought it was because I was hard of hearing but now I know i am just missing calls...Hope there is an answer out there.
