We are getting ripped-off!
I signed Droid Incredible at a Verizon store for $299, pending $100 rebate. Shockingly I found Amazon.com is selling the phone for $79.99 !!! Even after mail-in rebate, there is still $120 difference.

So.....Moral of this story is to not buy anything directly from Verizon. Shop around.
I always buy stuff from Amazon...it's nice getting free shipping & not paying full price for things...I got 4 Seido cases from Amazon for the price of 2 pieces of junk cases Verizon sells. I got the Seido extended battery & charger for what Verizon sells the extended battery for.....

yeah....in the future you should look around. best buy had the moto droid for $99 when vzn charged $199. sam's club sell many of the devices for the "after rebate" price. even if you do buy from vzn...if you do it online you get the rebate instantly. there are plenty of options out there. i wuoldn't necessarily say we got ripped off though. i paid vzn what i was willing to pay for the phone....$200 (after rebate). when it comes to my devices, i prefer to buy them directly from a vzn store. if i have problems with it, i have a name and a face at a specific location to go back to. i don't care to deal with third parties or insurance to replace a bad device. accessories are a different story. i ONLY buy accessories online (yahoo, ebay, etc). won't step foot into vzn, best buy, or even walmart if i need a battery, case, headphones, etc!!!!! two backup batteries (1500 amh) and the wall charger (cordless) for $12 total on ebay. they work just fine. the battery is an issue on this thing. now i have a battery in my car, at the office, and in my phone. i just switch them out. RARELY ever actually have the phone plugged in. TY ebay!!!!

I agree with getting the phone right from a person at the verizon store, that way I can go right back with any issues

I see no value in buying from the Verizon store. The employees there will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to buy the phone, and then leave you hanging as they go and hide under "company policy" just like anyone else if you have a problem. I say get the cheapest option you can find. Certainly don't buy any accessories at the VZW store. They'll sell you a microSD for twice the price you can find online.

that hasn't been my experience. i deal with the same handfull of reps at my nearest store. they are VERY helpful and there is a human element when you go back to the same person. what i mean by that is typically, if they assured you they would be there to help if you have any problems, and you show back up, they help you. they can't hide behind a computer screen or telephone. when confronted in person, humans act MUCH differently then when they are online or even on the phone with you. it's easy to tell a customer to go fly a kite over the phone....not so much in person (generally...i understand some people have no problem being a jacka$$ anywhere....lol). you get what you pay for....and my experience has been that the cheapest is RARELY the best.

Got mine for $199 from Best Buy plus got $100 credit to my bill for changing service from a different provider, not to mention the phone was in stock the day after I signed up and I picked it right up...that was the end of July where everyone else had it on back order 3 weeks out. And it doesn't matter about buying direct from verizon or not, I had some issues with the phone and talked to verizon support multiple times with no problems what so ever. After option one didn't fix my issue the sent me right out replacement Incredible. I guess that proves it is good to look around ahead of time, and when buying from a dealer of Verizon you still get the same support from them that you would get if you went to a corporate store and purchased.

I love Amazon. BUT don't forget you have to agree to Amazon's discount policy in order to get the phone at that price. You got to read the terms/conditions carefully.
When you purchase your device with service from Amazon.com, we automatically pass along an instant discount from the carrier to you. This discount has been provided to you based on your agreement to (a) activate a new, or extend an existing, line of service for this device with the carrier, and (b) maintain this service in good standing for a minimum of 181 consecutive days. If you do not activate or extend a line of service in connection with this device, or if your service is canceled/disconnected before 181 consecutive days, Amazon.com will charge you $250 per device, plus applicable taxes.

and what thegreatone cited is IN ADDITION to what vzn will charge for breking a contract. so if you had to get out of the contract for whatever reason, you'd be lookin at the $300 to vzn AND $250 to amazon.

fyi...that's also with a NEW service plan (not upgrade) and they are NOT in stock and all yahoo will tell you is that it will ship "when available." so it's a good deal....if you are not currently a vzn customer, and you don't mind wondering if you'll get it next week or next month.
