Insurance scammed

Had a Motorola Droid 2 1/2 months. Had water damage now they say we can't get it replaced. They sent us a Motorola Devour and I have been told it won't take the 2.2 upgrade when available. Verizon said not their problem and Assurion said to bad. I say it is a shame I paid good money for a phone and insurance to Verizon and a company they represent when I purchase their products. I guess preferred customer doesn't mean much after 10 yrs. Wonder if AT&T treats their customers the same. Didn't gett what I am paying for.

I never pay for insurance or extended warranties, etc. It's not generally a good buy on low cost items.

that's really bad news. i do get the warranty the first year of a new cell phone since they re expensive to replace. i found out that the insurance sompany can give you a refurbished phone but i didn't know they'd dowb grade the phone. that sucks

Insurance would be **bleep** for the first year. It has a full warranty for the 12 months after purchase.

Many extended warranty's are worthless since they encompass the first year, and they mainly send you to the company that made the items (TV, Stereos, Cell Phones etc.)

And extended warranty should cover the years after the original manufacturers warranty runs out. I know that with many credit cards the warranty is extended by years in some instances so and extended one is totally not worth paying for.

AMEX and VISA Signature cards are two I have personal knowledge of. Check with the credit card company (Not the banks debit/atm cards)

They only do that because people are willing to accept this hogwash.

I would never accept a lesser item that what was insured.

Escalate yor claim to someone with authority, not some script reading CS hack.

Unfortunately all electronics companies have that in their insurance and warrenty clauses... Water damage is never covered of any type it is in the warrenty documents. I have worked tech support for many years for a game console company and got many calls on that issue. Actually you were very fortunate that they were willing to send you a replacement phone of any type and not charge you for it. My husband had to pay for another phone after dropping his Blackberry in the toilet because it was not covered. And it was a refurbished one at that, but it worked fine and had no issues with it.

My Asurian contract states that it will replace water damaged phones. Don't know what you guys signed.

I agree, but since you already accepted the replacement you may be up a cetain creek with a devour as a paddle. Unfortunatly from what I read is that stock is extremely low on the droid so getting one as a replacement is almost impossible. But as soon as the droid x comes out that will be the replacement for the droid. Unfortunatley you either need to wait and use a temp. Phone until then or settle with an offering.
And anjali, the asurian coverage does cover water damage. Hell it covers it if I take my phone out and drive over it 160 times, good plan to have if your accident prone and you can cancel it anytime you want.
