Is Droid X right if I need reliable email and bluetooth calling?

I coming off of a bad experience with the BB Storm 1 for the past 2 years. Given this experience thought I'd move away from RIM to an Android based phone. This is primarily for business use and reliable email and effective, reliable bluetooth calling (using an ear peice), preferably with voice activated dialing are a must have.

It seems the more I read about all the Android phones they are just as buggy, if not more buggy and unreliable than my experience with the Storm1 at least as it relates to these two features. After searching and reading in various forums like this I keep reading over and over again about email issues with messages either not flowing in or not flowing out of the device and many, many issues with using bluetooth headsets. Of the bunch, the Droid X sounds the most stable so I was hoping to hear from people as to whether you've had success with reliable email and bluetooth calling with this or some other Android based phone?

Thanks for any insights you can provide.

I use my device for bussiness also and have a total of 6 email accounts on my Droid X and I havent had any issues with recieving or sending email, as I am sure you have noticed that some ISP does not grant access to some platforms to send on all accounts but I set my default as one of my accounts that I have no issue sending emails from and I never notice any issues.

Now as for bluetooth, the Droid X handles bluetooth calls without issues and you shouldnt have any issues in this area.

Most of these "Buggy" issues that people have are related to Apps that are not built for their particular phone.  I'd throw a number as high as 90% being the case of bad apps.

The problem you get into is the Majority of the apps on Marketplace are user made apps.  And as a user they usually only have access to one or two phones to check if it runs smoothly on them.  Also with the sheer volume of apps available, you are bound to find some that don't play well with others.

Many others and myself make it a practice to remove the last installed app anytime an unexpected problem occurs.  Sticking by this I've had no issues that I could not resolve myself.  There are actually a couple apps that gave me problems that I found they had an update to "fix issues with droid X" released a couple weeks later.

I have no problem with my Droid X, other than a random reboot once in a while.... it doesn't happen often ( maybe once every two weeks at the most).

I use a Plantronics Pro Bluetooth headset. It paired with no problem, and is very stable with the phone. I have three minor issues with the Bluetooth. One is that when I want to use voice dialing and initiate from the headset, there is a delay of about 15 seconds before it asks what do I want to do. Two is that when I use voice dialing, the volume of the device is so much lower than the actual volume for the phone. Not a big problem because I use the car dock, so I can see when it is time to speak which number I want to dial. Third, I do not get the announcement through the headset of who is calling. The headset only beeps.

Email. I use Touchdown by Nitro Desk for my work email. I use it for two reasons. One is that my company does not support Android Phones, and I like that Touchdown keeps my work stuff separate from my personal stuff on my phone. Another advantage is that Touchdown has a kill feature so if I lose the phone, I can send an SMS to my phone with a special subject line, and all my work information will be erased. Yes it is a tad expensive at $19.99, but it has been the best investment that I have made. It uses OWA to access my Exchange account, so my work doesn't have to do anything.

Also remember that most people have had excellent experiences with their Droid X. You will not see anything on the web from 95% of the happy customers, but you will see 80% of the people having problems on the web. I do feel bad for people that have problems.

I have two EMail accounts plus my Google account. I have never had a serious problem with receiving and sending Emails. I have had (once) a problem with getting the notification I would have liked. My fix was to delete the two accounts and then re-install them. Haven't had any trouble since.

As for bluetooth. Never had any trouble at all there once I got them linked together, which took all of maybe a few seconds.

I use Gmail exclusively, both business and personal (what very little personal email there is). Never had problems. I love that both my email and my contacts sync automatically.

I use a Jawbone headset and it works great. The voice dialing with the headset does take several seconds to engage, as was mentioned earlier, but if you want handsfree dialing, there ya go...it may be laggy, but by George, I have both hands on the steering wheel, LOL.

Oh, and one more point that I must address, and leave it to me to bring this up, but...

I can't help but notice that I've never met anyone that said "Ya know, it's fine if my email service and my bluetooth headset don't work reliably"...

Just sayin....
