Is Samsung Charge screen GLASS?

I have seen some folks comment that their screen icons do not respond quickly enough when touched or that once in a while there is a noticeable delay.

This raises the question, is the original screen GLASS?  I ask because glass is fairly difficult to scratch.

I say this because everyone I know, including myself, has a scratch-resistant plastic shield over the original phones screen and it could be that this plastic shield sometimes makes it take a teeny-weenie (this is a technical term) bit longer for the icon to react to your touch.

Therefore if the screen is glass, I want to remove the scratch-resistant plastic cover and see if icons react quicker to my touch without the plastic cover over the screen..

Dear JerryF,

Yes, the screen is glass.  Samsung apparently uses a process that fuses the glass, the LED substrate and the backing into one unit.  However, the concensus on the net seems to be that it is not Gorilla Glass, which you can find in some other Samsung phones.

Thanks for the quick response.  Before I try it I'll see if Samsung can tell me if it's "equal to" Gorilla Glass.  If you hear anything more please let me know.

I've seen numerous posts early on that the Charge does in fact use Corning Gorilla Glass.  It is not listed on Corning's web site, however I listened to a a podcast about GG recently and it was mentioned that there are a lot of devices not listed that have GG installed.

Here are a few links about the Charge and the Corning link, which only has a few Samsung devices listed.  It looks like only their flagship devices got a shout out.

I'm fairly abusive to my phone - no case, no plastic on the screen, carry it in a pocket with keys, green repair tools, etc.  So I know what it takes to scratch a screen (I scratch them all).  The Charge is at least as scratch-resistant as the Fascinate, which is documented Gorilla Glass.
