Also, I was digging around and found if I go to Google Keyboard in PlayStore, it shows it already installed, duh, but if I open it from there I seem to find options I can't find going in from Settings. Doesn't make sense--maybe I just dug deeper, the options are kind of all over the place. But, I found color, changed to 'blue' but the keyboard looks the same. Version # is exactly the same. Not sure what's going on.

I agree. The stock google keyboard on the ULTRA is really lacking. I installed ai.type Keyboard FREE form the Playstore and it is working fine. It gave me a dedicated row for numbers and more commonly used special characters. It also has sizing options that can be adjusted dynamically. Whole lot of other features too. No problems to report but I have only had the phone a week. I really wish someone would come out with a virtual keyboard that mimicks the old QWERTY keyboard on the Droid 4 or my OLD Samsung phone that had a physical keyboard.
