Hi all…im in desperate need of new droid help/suggestions…
What is the best recommended app for text-to-speech???
And, if you don’t have a picture added for a number, the little green gremlin thing shows…can you change that to anything other than pictures or him? Lol
Suggestions on how to save battery life besides App Killer?

Go to Settings -> Text-to-speech. There should be an option that will take you directly to the 'Market' to download the voice data.
Unless you load your own picture the Android picture is the default and cannot be changed.
I have read other sites and have heard that an App Killer is not recommended. I believe 2.1 has a process manager built in. Long press on the home screen then choose Widgets. Scroll through the list and look for 'Process Manager'. I used to use an App Killer but have recently begun using Process Manager.
* Note: I am currently not using a Droid phone so the screens I'm looking at may or may-not be the same.

you can also disable gps (except for when you actually want to use apps that require it). if gps is left on always.....it waill drain the battery faster (so will wifi i believe). however....i leave it (gps....not wifi) on all the time. i use app killer....but you have to know which apps NOT to kill (for example, i put my alarm clock on the "ignore" list.). I know the battery life is an issue, but i got this phone for all the bells and whistles!!! there's plenty you can do to save battery.....but i'd rather run everything i want and deal with charging it. after a couple days (when you aren't playing with it 24/7) yu'll prolly get a full day out of a charge. but i also ordered a set on ebay that has 2 batteries and an external wall charger ($12 total!!!). i just rotate the batteries (keep one in the car and one in my pocket or at the office) and charge them externally so my phones never plugged in. hope this helps!!!

@ Grooks
I tried the option you put forth & the area that gives you the option to add the voice data is greyed out...what do I need to do to get it to work!
Thanks!

Same here. I can listen to it but not update it or add it as the greyed out area states.
