Just updated to Gingerbread; it's ugly :(

I have no problem with the functionality of the new Gingerbread update, but it's really ugly. The old notification bar (black on white) was great, and the menus being white text on black background were also great.
- The new menus with black text on white background is too contrasty; it bothers my eyes!
- The white gradient under the launch buttons looks terrible.
- The new blue notification bar doesn't look right; should be black or white
I like the new Manage Apps option from the main menu, and the new icons are fine I guess.
How hard would it be to let us choose from a few very simple theme options, like what color the notification bar should be, if we want the launch gradient, and what scheme menus should use? I much preferred the old white on black, and the new one actually hurts my eyes to read. Give us some options!

Actually very hard with a stock device because the files are in a compress file base and required uncompressing changing files required for the images and also the launcher is controlled by a xml data file which requires a registry editor native in OS to be able to decompress and edit file on the go, and not to forget that this will also require hours and hours of scanning codes for color index data and then be able to acces it to modify the data.
It may appear simple to edit and build themes for a OS but it can get complicated...
