I tried to take a speedtest (www.speedtest.net) and once I have logged in and press the "Take a Speed Test" button, it blinks and switches to "Add a Google Account" . I dont use Gmail...don't want to , is this required ? When I try to add the "Veetle Android App" I'm once again asked to add this "Google Account". Is this a requirement to run anything on my new phone. I have a hotmail account as well as a charter.net account. I don't want a Google,com account ! Appreciate any and all help

You didn't realize that you bought a Google device and everything is connected to your Google account, how do you install apps on your device if you don't have a gMail account because the market requires a account?
You can run the device without a gMail account but there it a large amount of features and apps on the device the a Google account is a must... Its your call on how you approach this solution because from what I am guessing that you will see a request for the account because it uses information on a number of sites to identify your device to the network.

Well color me stupid ! I didnt realize that I bought a Google Device until I read your reply ! This is my first day with this phone , before this I had a Palm Pre Plus . I should have known...now that I've had time to think about it . Im gonna ask at least one dumb question: Can I open a Google Account my PC , then log in on my Bionic when asked ? I want it to operate as seamless as possible.
I feel pretty darn foolish posting this question ....I thank you for being kind.

Yes, you can setup a account online on a PC and then log into that account on your device with the same information...
