Hi apex,

There is no way to have a previous keyboard version on your new software upgrade. As I checked my resources, I see that other customers have resolved similar issues by performing a factory reset after the Gingerbread upgrade. For factory reset instructions please visit the link below:

Try clearing the cache of the texting/email app you're using (or whatever you use your keyboard for) by going to Settings -- Applications -- Manage Apps -- and select the app you want, then select 'Clear Cache'

Or, if you have it set to vibrate or make a soun on keypress, turn that off, as that will cause it to lag.

That does not work for the driodx. The vibrate when type is turned off. The Cache would not clear. Maybe because it reads  0.00B

What app did you try to clear the cache of? Your texting app should have loads of memory to clear. But it sounds like you're trying to clear a different app.

Try looking up SwiftKey Beta X in the Market. It's free, and a great keyboard to use if you don't already have it.

The default keyboard is terrible. It lags so bad I can't use it. I can use swype keyboard just fine, but the regular one is unusable for texting. Again, annoying, but can deal. If you have a fix, that would be great!  Just got the Droid X last week as a replacement for the Samsung Fascinate.  Started the very first day I got it with no apps installed, and phone is up to date with Android 2.3.3 so I really dont think a master reset will do much.  Has anyone been able to fix this keyboard issue?

Heh, so I talked to support yesterday and they had me do 2 factory resets, cleared cache and everything and when all was said and done, both keyboards are now laggy.  With all my other issues he just decided that maybe I got a bad replacement and is sending me out a new phone tomorrow... hopefully it will work this time, getting frusterated...

You're right that the cache usually doesn't have anything in it to clear.  What worked for me was to go to Manage Applications -- All -- Multi-touch keyboard -- Clear data.  Then do the same thing for the Text Messaging app.  This has fixed the keyboard issue on every phone I've tried it on.

Well, thanks for all the help.  After spending a lot of time at the store and on the phone they decided to send me a replacement, and they sent me the Droid X2...  So far, so good.  I do miss the camera button, but after a day I am really enjoying this phone.  I just didn't want to leave you guys hanging, so thank you all for the help!  Wish me luck on this one :smileyhappy:
