Keypad issues since update...

NormalLikeMe81

Ever since the update I am having issues with my Droid X keypad.  Whenever I try to type the keypad will disappear or it won't type the correct letters and it becomes quite a mess.  I thought maybe it was my texing app but it appears to be happening in any app I try to type in.  I took it to the Verizon store and the guy switched it into the swype mode and it seems to work like that, but I don't like swyping and I don't like pecking in the swype mode.  He said it was an issue with the new software but had a replacement phone sent to me anyway.  Still the same problem with the replacement phone.  Anyone else expereiencing the same issue and possibly know of a fix?

Sometimes clearing the learned words from the Settings / Lauguage and Keyboard / Multi-Touch Keyboard / Clear Learned Words helps....

Another option you can try is Smart Keyboard, I posted about this app at http://community.vzw.com/t5/Android-Apps/BEST-KEYBOARD-REPLACEMENT-EVER/m-p/572950 you may want to check it out..

Settings / Applications /  Manage Applications / ALL / Multi-Touch Keyboard.

Clear Cache and Clear Data.

I just had this issue so this should work for you as well.

Dave

P.S. After I did this I had to go back into Settings / Language and keyboard / Multi-Touch Keyboard and turn off the annoying vibrate when you touch every key thing. Apparantly it defaults to on.

No, it's like clearing the Cookies on a computer. Everything will be saved.

Thank you for clearing that up.  I was confused when the pop-up box told me this would "clear all data...etc"  Maybe I was thinking of what the option did "pre-GB."  One of my friends also has the DROID X and had used the "Clear Data" option and it actually deleted the apps from her phone! I'm pretty sure this was pre-GB as well...

Thanks again.
