Lame Verizon... Just lame..

This is now the "upmteenth" time I've seen you guys change the ship dates for the refresh on Droid X's. Where in the world are you getting your time-frames from!? And who do you have doing the ordering, a chimp!? Seriously.. One good way to lose business. It's bad enough that the online department and in-store department are 2 separate entities, which only means I as a customer have to deal with the runaround twice, when it comes to rebates and upgrades.. What a joke. Seperate, yet neither one can manage to keep these phones in stock, nor anticipate an influx? You guys have been promising since July that stocks would remain healthy.. You lied.

“While we are currently experiencing delays on orders of one of our more popular phones. We view that as an anomaly driven by a combination of supply and popularity,” Brenda Raney said. “At present, we feel that we have done everything possible to ensure we have inventory to meet customer needs around the Droid X–the proof will be in the execution on July 15.”

Alright, i am not a "verizon fanboy" by any means, but come on. Verizon never 'promised' you anything.  Never crossed their hearts or became blood brothers about shipping the X to you on a particular date.  Brenda Raney quote above is carefully worded by Verizon when she says "At Present" and "we feel" to ensure they aren't "pomising" anything.

As demand rises and stock depletes that means that manufacturing has to constantly catch up.  When stock depletes, demand rises and manufacturing has to constantly catch up that means that ship dates have to be pushed back, again and again.

Verizon is loosing money when they cant meet demand.....you really think they are just simply lying to you?

And, yes.  Online and instore are 2 different entities altogether.  If Shell Gasoline has an explosion at the refinery and your local shell station is out of fuel....who's fault is that?  Do you not understand that the large majority of verizon stores are individual companies selling verizon products?

This is interesting lol the delay is only like 8 days isn't it? If don't want to wait simply get anoher phone. This phone is very popukar and its been selling like crazy. I can imagine demand being to high for the supply.

To tease you... this was posted using my moto deoid x :smileytongue:

The dates come from information from Motorola. Basically Verizon cannot ship a single Droid X until they get it from Motorola first.

The demand for this phone is a LOT higher than Verizon or Motorola anticipated. Motorola sets their manufacturing schedule in advance, and when the demand is higher than originally thought, they ramp up production, but there is only so many they can manufacturer at one time. If the demand is higher than what Motorola can produce, yes there will be backorders until the demand is lower than what they can produce, then they can build stock up.

Seriously, you need to get an education on how business run. To ask if Verizon has a chimp ordering the phone is just plain **bleep**.

No I do not work for Verizon. I have been a Verizon customer for a long time, with multiple lines the whole time. Verizon is not perfect, but the backorder situation is not in their control. The way the dates move, they are forecasting what supply is coming in, looking at orders already placed, try to forecast future orders, and plan accordingly. If Motorola has a hiccup during manufacturing, and cannot supply the number of units that they said they could supply, then the backorder date moves farther out.

and

if you think that you can do better, then apply for a job at Verizon.

Hillarious. Stating, that there is no way that Verizon or Motorolla, did not anticipate an influx in sales, is simply you   {please keep your posts courteous} Verizon has been pushing back orders for the last 2 months. No company that I've ever known markets, nor backs any new and unproven technology, if they don't anticipate a success  {no personal comments, please}They are doing what most companies do, to boost sales and hype. Create a limited supply and increase demand. And Verizon did promise "Healthy Stocks". {please keep your posts courteous}

Just an observation xxjoshxx...to start calling people "nutjobs" and "nuts" and "pathetic" and "chimp" and "puppet" AND "smart guy" and "special" because a few people did not agree with your thread (me being one of those people) is simply out of line.

I hope that reply is your last because with that type of attitude and blatant disrespect of this forum and it's members you probably will end up getting banned if you keep it up.

Hey Dj

I did see his post before it was quoted by you, and I think it was deleted.......

I was sitting here laughing so hard, I had tears in my eyes. Truthfully I have been called worse by my ex wife.......

but we must have empathy/pity for the young un's...... for they know not how people can achieve true happiness. For to have true happiness, one must be happy at home, at their place of employment (I LOVE MY JOB), and be secure in their place in life and look for the good.

I might have been a little hard on the young un earlier.... but when people bash companies over something they do not control, I just get a little sick of it.

and I still thought his post you quoted was funny (even in the unquoted form that I read)

Hope your having a good night

Sounds like a great night to me!

It will be a long, long time before we have an empty nest here.  A 2yr old son and my wife is 11 weeks pregnant with the second one!  Main reason I got the Droid X is for media an videos of the family (just threw that Droid comment in for continuity's sake)

I'm more of a Cherry Coke guy, but I won't hold that Pepsi against you.

Well, guys, since this thread went from a tirade to what we are doing on a Saturday night, I have neither wife nor kids (except for a stepdaughter in college that claims me for some reason I can't figure out), but I just got home from my girlfriend's home. Just took a phone call from from the videographer at the 20th anniversary show of a band that I quit playng with 18 years ago. He's wanting to know why I'm not there. So how many times in one lifetime does a guy have to play "My Girl" or "Mustang Sally" or friggin' "Brown-Eyed Girl" (I''m 52)?  I served my time, thank you.

It's pretty rare that I'm home on Friday and/or Saturday nights, but I'm enjoying it while I can.

I'm enjoying a Diet Coke, watching some "Whose Line" reruns and well, posting here. I'm also working an operations manual for a sound and video system we just installed at a community center, hoping that a Mayor and his City Officer will be able to understand. My hopes are not high, though.

I had written a fairly long response to "Josh" and asking him to prove some of his points, but I got tired ot writing it and let it go. I come back a minute later and you guys have jumped it and I can't tell what on Earth happened to the thread (meaning that it appears that the Mods got a hold of it). Josh's points were certainly going nowhere fast.

You guys have a good evening,

Geri O

There is gerio....... I was wondering where you were tonight

Long response..... I couldn't contain my laughter long enough to do a response before the mods got to it. I am still giggling over it.

We have gone waaaaayyyyyyyyy off topic, but I think that the mods don't mind.... they might be enjoying the Friday night recaps...

and besides..... some things don't need to have a response...... just because.. and I won't say anything more because they might want to edit it out......

Hey Geri, enjoy a peaceful Friday  night for once.  Very funny about playing those god aweful songs....when i'm at one of those events, i convieniently have to do a "number 2" and magically appear back near my wife when they all end!

I spent a bunch of years as a DJ in clubs and some weddings (i'm 33 but wise beyond my years :smileyhappy: ) so I have spent a number of hours setting up PA systems for events...Just tell them to leave the levels alone and lock the rack!!

I don't know if the mods would have jumped in so quickly if it wasn't for my reply pointing out all the names he used. Pretty funny that his entire reply was removed.  Funnier still that he'll likely log in tomorrow to see if he "won" the debate.

way too late now. I think we've sufficiently taken this thread to the top of a tangent and jumped right off.

Well would you rather have a half assed phone put together so you get it faster or wait a couple of days to get a good quality phone?  Relax, you're acting like a spoiled child.

I think they are getting more in line with keeping up with production.  I ordered the DX on the 14th and had a ship date of 9/22.  It will be delivered 9/20:smileyvery-happy:  It will be my first smart phone, so I do not know what to expect.  IMO if vzw could push these out sooner they would love to.  Just think way back when, it was so hard to get your hands on a Wii:smileyhappy: Production can't keep up with demand.
