Looking to upgrade to the Droid X researching owners views

I have been researching this phone vs iphone 4 vs EVO. I wanted to see if I could get some current users of the Droid X to give me some info.  Is the camera really that bad?

I really like the texting features like the swipe and voice! The voice text feature would be great for me and it seems to be an even trade for the forward facing camera. I have my music in a folder on my computer, (all mp3's) how easy is it to transfer them to the droid x?  Is the resolution all that bad?

I watched 3 segments on youtube about the features of this phone and what it can do, the screen looked pretty good in the sunlight, some reviews from other phone carriers were claiming not to be all that great. I just want to get some feed back from current users to make my upgrade worth while!  Thank you for your time.

The camera isnt the top grade camera but the quality is very nice, check out camera shots here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/motorola-droid-x/22993-lets-do-post-pictures-taken-your-droid-x.html

Texting is incredible with Droid X and the Voice input feature really makes me love the phone even more, I only use keyboard when I want because the voice input is so on point. Transfering music is as easy as moving files from one hard drive to another, no problems at all, simply copy and paste.

A number of devices has been released after the Droid X and in my opinion none can compare at this time, the device isnt perfect but there isnt such a thing, all devices have there level of bugs but I havent ran into anything that has made me change my mind on having the Droid X.

Wildman, so how are the buttons on the droid x, is there a lock out feature on them?  I'm not sure what kind of case I will be purchasing, but in my line of work I want to protect this phone as much as possible.

The phone I have now takes a beating, it is a touch screen and if it was not for the body glove case  and the clear protective screen cover  the phone would be in very bad condition.

I have a ipod touch , I like it but I'm not about to make the switch just for the iphone 4! I'm always finding myself making the info on the screen larger or going to the landscape (left to right then back again) just to see! what a load of crap!

I also don't want to have to go through itunes for everything much less permission to do so.

I have no issues with the buttons and the settings menu gives you option to lock buttons when device is locked... Also the slide to unlock may seem like a extra unneeded step but it keeps users from accidentally activating items in their pocket or purse.  I do not use a case but there is a number of nice ones around but none of them fit the docks and I own the home and car docks..

I'm a recent 'convert' to the Droid X from Blackberry.  I think your experience with the Droid X (if that's the direction you're going) will be tainted by what phone you're coming from.  If you are a 'heavy-duty' emailer, and/or were on a BB or had a good push email program, you might find the emails on the X are slower (except for GMail which is immediate).  But there are apps that might help with that.  (I think I've finally found an app will work for me.)

The camera and pics on the Droid X are just as good as any other phone.  I actually find myself using the camera more now than I did on any other phone.

The voice to text is a great feature.  For some reason, I seem to get a lot of texts while I'm driving home from work.  It's a lot easier to respond  with the voice-text system.  (Not that I text and drive...that is a bad thing.....).  Swype is fantastic!  When I show it to anyone, they are amazed.   Heck, I'M still amazed at how easy and accurate it is.  I'm becoming quite a fast swyper.

The screen is relatively easy to see in sunlight (and I'm in the Sunshine State).  It might not look as crisp or flashy as the Incredible or Fascinate, but those screens practically disappear in bright light.  And speaking of screens...once you start using this 4.3" screen, other smartphone screens will look microscopic.

For me, it wasn't "love at first sight", but I'm finding myself becoming increasingly addicted to it.  Many things I used to do on my laptop, I'm doing on my phone.  I say...give this a try.  You'll have 30 days to decide.

Thanks, the more i research this phone the more I'm going to like it. I left the BB 8330 the apps were ok and the only features I really liked were the IM, camera, push email, & the fact that I could rock out at work with Pandora! Yes I do miss it but I am fascinated with the Droid X ! the screen, text, music, movie camera, wifi, all of it!

I have a new netbook I'm giving my daughter (mainly needed for school) and my itouch is not really that usable unless I'm at home. I switched back to just a standard phone only good for texting ( my other older daughter wants it). I keep giving all of my gagets away?? Got to face it and just go get the Droid X!!!!
