I woke up this morning and every one of my texts was gone, including ones that were locked. I don't use an outside app for texting and my settings were not set so old messages get deleted.
Does anyone know why this happens? It seems like it's happened to a lot of others. Very annoyed.

happened last week to me, in the middle of the day! I was replying to my daughter one minute, the next time I replied there were no more text messages shown from her, and anyone else I had for that matter!
The only time I have lost messages was when I was force closing apps as I must have closed one too many, so I no longer do that.
There is a free app named, 'SMS Backup'. I have had it since I last screwed things up. You set up an email address for text messages to be forwarded to along with sending the messages to the phone.
I set up a specific Gmail account, just for text messages.
Well, it's happened for the fourth time today. I don't get it.
