I think MostlyALurker is right ... it's a problem with the native email app. I had terrible freezing and lagging after opening Mail, on both Inc 2s in my house.
I deleted my email accounts from the stock app, and use K-9 Mail instead. No problems on either phone now.
Do you mean be pushed to your phone for accounts other than Gmail? If so, this seems to be an issue with the native mail program. You can use a diffeerent mail retrieval program to bypass this issue.
