Howdy... let me start this by saying this is the third droid 2 ive owned... all because of problems with the phone.
Tonight i started noticing that my phone slowing down... Then in the middle of a text, it freezes and i have to go to home screen. As this has happened to me before, i quickly tried to check that i have all of the "auto correct" functions of the keyboard disabled (this usually does the trick). They were disabled, so i restarted my phone and tried again... this time, i could barely get to the texting screen before the phone got extremely slow and laggy. It has been basically unusable for the past five hours...
Also, ive noticed that i dont need to scroll to unlock the phone anymore... it seems to be in a constant unlocked state.
This is getting ridiculous.
DMinnichelli, thank you for sharing your concerns. I can certainly understand why this issue would make it difficult to use your phone. Since this issue occurs with the keyboard and with texting, I would recommend clearing cache/data from your Multi-touch keyboard and Messages applications. This will not wipe any data from either of the applications.
For the screen lock issue, I am not showing a setting to turn on/off the option to slide the unlock screen. If you press the power button to turn off the screen, then press it again to unlock, is the screen unlocked? Try turning off the phone and then back on. Is it still unlocked? Have you installed any new applications lately that may cause this? Try booting the phone into safe mode to see if this is still happening. If not, then it may be an application causing the issue. If it is still happening in safe mode, I would recommend a factory reset which will erase all info and reset to default settings.
