Message Alert

When I first got my phone set up I would receive an alert every time I got a text message or an e-mail. Now, all of the sudden, I get no alert and when I touch the e-mail icon it just says 'Loading".....

 

I know there must be something I have turned off or turned on by mistake but I can't figure it out.

 

HELP.

Open up the messaging app hit menu key>settings>retrieve options and notification options.

Basically the same for the email settings.
