I recently received another Incredible 2 (had the same charging issues everyone else has) and I am trying to transfer all of my information over to my new phone. Is there a way that I can transfer my text messages or are those lost forever?
There are several SMS backup applications available in the Play Store. Choose one with a high rating and method of backup and restore you prefer.
I have one called SMS backup and restore for over two years without a problem. This one saves the messages in the backup function to an xml file on the sd storage space. You then transfer the xml file to the new phone. Install the application and run the restore function.
