Messaging using swype

Before I bought my droid x, I did some researching and it said that you can use swype to do text messaging. when i went to the store to test out the droidx, the fone had that capability too. my only problem is...is that an application i need to download? if so, what application is it. If not, how do I enable swype for text messaging? I'm not too fond of how slow it takes to message using the qwerty. Also, is there a way to turn off that auto word thing?

when in a text message you can long press in the message box and then select swype or you can go into language and keyboard and enable swype
