Mic not working randomly after taking/making a call

My mic randomly dies in the middle of a phone call.   It's happened twice in the past week alone.   I've tried resetting the phone to factory settings, reboots and resets.  Anybody have the same problem?  This is my second charge with the same problem.  It's happened using the speakerphone as well.

Same thing has happened to me, seems like everytime I am on the phone for 10 minutes or more.  It does it if I am on my bluetooth or just on the handset.  The only time it seems to not do it is when it is hooked up through my car bluetooth.  I try to change from speakerphone to handset to bluetooth and back and nothing works.  I have to end the call and call back and then it seems to work fine.  I can always still hear the other person talking though.

I hope its a software bug that can/will be fixed with the next big update.  Otherwise this phone is off to market lol.

Thank you both for reporting this issue. I checked and I have seen some other people report this issue. I have escalated this issue to our product team so we can investigate further what is causing this issue.

Any resolution on these? I have a Samsung Droid Charge, and last Thursday it started doing the same thing--microphone on the cell phone would randomly drop, then require that I restart the phone to get it to work again. Ironically, I could still record messages with the voice recorder. Also, this problem occurs using bluetooth or the built-in microphone.

PiezoSapphire, thanks for your inquiry. I checked and this issue is still being investigated. It is expected to be resolved in the next software release for the Charge. No date on the software release.

I am a Droid Charge user, son of a Verizon employee and I am sick about the multitude of issues with this phone and Verizon's lack of support concerning it. This is my third replacement phone, and I continue to have the problem that you all are experiencing. I cannot

believe that I am not able to use the phone as it is. I cannot respond to callers because the microphone stops working. My suggestion is to leave Verizon and don't come back until they learn how to service their products.

I sent my phone to Samsung due to mic issue and they told me it's because they found water damage (that is **bleep** because the phone was never dropped and exposed to the water)

The weird thing is that the mic works fine when you have it on speakerphone.

I'm upset at the Samsung and Verizon for not fixing known issues.

It is no longer random for me.  It is now constant.

Exactly the same issue, except the mic no longer works for any method of using the phone - normally, speakerphone or bluetooth.

Mic works perfectly for Android Voice Commands and every other App, but not when using the Phone app or voice dialing.

There is no water damage.

This is an obvious bug that is making my phone unusable.

Come on Verizon, I dropped AT&T because of Network issues - We haven't seen a date when the the phone will be upgraded to Gingerbread, Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich.

This has been an open issue for several months.- Can you please allocate some resources away from launching new devices and support your current customers who are locked into two year commitments?

You can no longer call this a phone if it does not transmit my voice...

Same problem with Charge.  Microphone stops in the middle of calls. Completely unacceptable.  Are they nuts? They told me to take the battery out and put in back in, really in the middle of a call? How handy. So I had them replace it and the second one does the same thing.  Maybe some one should start a class action law suit for fraud. They know it does not work and yet they sell it any way, that is intent to defraud and that is enough.

I just wanted to chime in here. Thanks to all of you, we have been able to escalate  this concern up to the software developers.

By that, I mean that we have sent the information you have given us to them.

Upon further testing, it has been determined this indeed is an issue and they have been diligently working on a software release that is going to stop the "audio mute" from happening.

Thank you for the information. Would you happen to have any information on a possible approximate release time frame? Before the end of the year maybe? The way things have been going for this phone, there has been very very little information regarding any kind of support for it with regards to any kind of software fixes, where as vendors like HTC and Motorola reach out to consumers and will at least say something like "expect it soon" and then it happens within a week or so. At this point some bug fixes would be great, forget about upgrading the Operating system to Gingerbread, how about just some fixes for the phone without the upgrade to Gingerbread???

This is great news that a fix is going to come out soon, but I was not able to use this phone to it's full capacity for the last two months....Can Verizon change/upgrade my phone?

I paid a lot of money for this phone, signed a contract and I expect it to work.

I feel like I'm paying monthly for the service that I cannot utilize.  Can Verizon do anything for me?

TamaraH,

Can you comment on when this mic issue will be fixed?

Haven't seen a word from you since June? Either you are on a long vacation or embarrassed to comment anymore about Verizon & Samsung taking so long to fix a simple problem.

Just bought the phone last Friday and it has happened to me three times already. Verizon has known about the problem for a long time.

Hi Enz60(and all community members),

I checked my resources and I'm pleased to report that a software update for the Samsun Charge device has been released and is now being pushed to all Charge devices systematically. Please keep in mind that not every device will get update at the same time and it may take a few weeks to reach all devices.

Please visit this LINK for download instructions and software update details. I trust that this software update will resolve the audio issues outlined in this forum. Keep us posted of phone performance after latest software update is installed.

Hello Antonio,

I am going to resurrect my Charge (I repalced with other phones that ended up having the same issue - Nexus and Stratosphere).  I did the update yuou mented and it didn't work.  Has there been a real fix put together yet?

Please, Please, Please let it be so.
