I really hope someone can help me, My Motorola Driod is constantly dropping my calls. I can't even talk to someone for more than 2 minutes without the call being dropped. In addition to that problem, while I'm talking to someone, the phone will randomly mute the phone to where I can hear the other person but they cannot hear me. It basically happens 99.5% of the time, please help!

Have you experienced drop calls before in the past? You could try to update the PRL (*228 + send, option 2)

Hi! I am sorry you are having issues with drop calls. I can certainly look into this for you. TheGreatOne is certainly correct, I would first suggest dialing *228 option 2 to update your phone. If that does not help, I may need to check your area so I can see if we are having any issues with your area.
Please let me know if updating your phone works.
If not, can you please send me your zip code so I can check your area?
Thanks!

Thank you so much me and the wife just got our new phones (Motorola droid) and were ready to take them back, Then I read your post and the *228 opt 2 worked. Now we can actually use our phones at home. Thanks again.

My Droid drops calls all of the time, also. Almost every call I get is dropped within a minute or so. I don't use it very often for voice calls because of this. The sad thing is that pretty well no one who calls me will consider buying a Droid!
I took it in for service once and they did a hard reset and told me to give it another try. I have done the *228 thing a couple of times. I did it again today after reading this thread.
I really like having a smart phone, but I don't like not really having a phone phone.

If the phone doesn't work at your house and you need it at your house you can only return it or buy a network extender..
I would go with a feature phone if signal is an issue and important to you

Hi! I understand your frustration with your calls dropping. I will be happy to look into this for you. I did check your zip code and I do not currently see any outages. Try *228 option 2 to update your phone to see if that works. If it does not work, I can look into this issue in more detail.
How long has this been going on?
Did you downloaded any applications before it started dropping calls?
Waiting on your reply
Thanks!

I have had a few dropped calls with my Moto Droid, but the problem was caused by me, not Verizon service. Sometimes I'll move the phone slightly away from my ear and the sensor will turn the screen on and I don't notice. Then my cheek or ear hits the touchscreen and ends the call or presses some random buttons.

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't thought about that possibility.

Suz - it sounds to me EXACTLY like the problem I was having. There is a sensor in the phone that tells when you are talking and turns off the screen so that you don't accidentally touch the End Call or Mute or any other buttons.
I watched myself on a call in the mirror. If my hair was over my ear, the sensor didn't turn the screen off, and I would hang up the call with my face. If I moved my hair back, it worked just fine. I've heard other people have problems talking with big earrings or sunglasses on.
So...you can either be VERY careful to get the phone next to your ear skin when talking, use the speakerphone, or try a software work-around. I have read the there is an app called Screen Suite that will help, and there are also phone lock tools.
Either way, it sounds like your calls are most likely not getting dropped, rather the screen is turning on and buttons getting touched.
Hope this helps!

The EXACT same thing happens to me. I thought I was crazy, but now I know I'm not. I hate the "mute problem", and the dropped calls are just crazy. I've never had a problem with dropped calls. EVER. Since I got the Motorola Droid, I've had nothing BUT dropped calls. I cannot make phone calls unless I'm at least 5 miles from my house. I didn't have a problem with this on EITHER of my Blackberrys. I've done a battery pull. I've called *228 and selected option 1, then 2. Nothing works! I HATE this phone and would not recommend it to ANYONE. If you want a smartphone that you can actually use as a PHONE, get a Blackberry.

I feel your pain. I ended up getting the Screen Suite app and my muted and dropped calls are gone. Well my muted calls are completely gone and my dropped calls are limited to the same places I have always dropped calls with my previous cell phones. Please try the Screen Suite app.
