Moto Droid issues

I have been having problems with buttons pressing when im on a call. The funny thing is that the screen is black when its happening and my face isnt completely touching the phone. I also do not hold the phone with my shoulder/face either, which is what the Verizon store insists i must be doing. So I call in to tech support in which they have me reset my phone to factory settings. NOW... i dont get 3G AT ALL!! My calls drop frequently and i'm lucky to get 1 bar with 1X service. I have a support tag in with verizon since friday night, still no luck with better service. And yes, im still hitting buttons when on a phone call. BTW, i literally was touching the black screen with my finger while on a call and it was pressing the 5 button, even though when i take the phone away from my face so the screen lights up, the dialpad is'nt even pulled up! Does anyone have this problem at all! the lady at the verizon store says its how i hold the phone, I say phooey on that!

I have had my Motorola Droid for over 5 months.  Not once has it dropped a call, or done anything it's not supposed to do.  The ONLY problem I have experienced is the phone getting hot and not charging while in the car dock.  I think many of the issues are user error, although, I'm sure there are occasionally defective phones out there.  I am very careful to hold the phone by the sides and not touch the screen.  I also hold it tightly against my ear and well away from my face.

I am having the same problems.    While talking on the phone and not using a headset, the phone will mute and or it's like I'm pushing buttons and beeps.   At first I thought it was me and holding it too close to my face.  I have been aware of this, so I have been very careful to hold the phone further away from my face and it still does.   It gets very aggravating when you are on a call and the phone mutes itself.   Then I have to go thru a varietyh of steps to get back to the call and usually by that time the person has hung up.

Touch and hold the icon/shortcut you want to delete.  After a second, the menu button at the bottom turns to a trash can.  While still holding the icon/shortcut, drag it to the trashcan.  It will still be available in the menu feature i fyou need it though.

Mine did the same thing, I have been through 5 phones, one right from motorola.. still the same thing, muting people, hanging up on them, pressing buttons. The best $2.99 I spent was on the app SCREEN SUITE,  download it from the market place, it actually puts a lock on the phone, almost like a Iphone slidy thing, just make sure you go in and change the setttings : check overide phone lock and auto lock during call,... the rest of the settings would be up to you. I can actually feel my phone vibrating when it would have normally cut off or done something on its own.

Good luck

to remove icons off phones just press and hold down till you see a trash can  on bottom of screen and drag to trash can.

You don't have to have your face pressed against the phone - the heat from your face can cause the same reaction...I purchased my screen protector from zagg (best screen protector out there), I previously had the BB Storm and this seem to help with the problem.

I have to admit I have one of the best verizon stores - Any time I had a problem with my Storm, they just gave me a new one - no questions asked...I went thru 4 of them! I hope not to have any problems, but expect the same service if I do! Good Luck to all!

I have had that exact same problem.  I don't get it!  I make sure to hold my face away and it still does it.  Drives me crazy and the person I'm talking to, since they get to hear all the beeps on their end.

You hate to see people having problems, BUT it helps confirm you aren't going crazy and you're not alone! On my Droid X, I will be on a call and the screen goes black and the connection is lost, even though I had 3 bars of service. I have also been on a call and tried to hang up by touching the red end call button and it doesn’t respond. A little disappointing I must say. I cannot believe Verizon will not take ownership of the problem. Even if you accidently touch the screen with your face, it shouldn’t go black. I will try downloading Screen Suite and see if that helps.
