Hopefully some people here can assist.
My wife and I both have a Motorola Droid and her phone just suddenly stopped sending text messages. Now every time she tries to send a message it just waits a bit then gives her the message not sent error.
I have been looking around online but the threads I have found are old, pre 2.1.
I have tried editing her contact list, making sure there are no ( ) which there weren't etc...
Any additional ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Will this be the same as a "pending" status as well? This issue had just started recently for me. I type a msg then send, then I get a envelope with a explamation mark in the message area.. I will look at the details of the message and it says; "Pending". I remove the battery (hard reset) for about 5 min but it still happens.
The msg eventually will deliver but the little envelope w/explamation point still remains. lordfeyr, I don't mean to rob your thread or question but my issue sounds simular as yours. I hope someone can shed light on your issue.

Just moments ago, I finally figured out what was going on. I had the "delivery reports" checked. I unchecked ALL of them and now I don't have the envelope with the explamation point in the txt window.
Anyways...sorry lordfeyr. I didn't mean to step on your toes

Hi. I understand your Motorola Droid is having issues sending text messages. I can certainly look into it further for you.
How long has this been going on?
Are you using the default messaging application or another messaging application?
Did you download any applications before the messages started failing? (So I can see if there is a compatibility issue).
Waiting on your reply
Thanks!

I have a similar issue. I can send texts to everyone but my husband. He is also a Verizon customer on a different account. So is my mother and I can still send texts to her.
The message I get is the envelope with the exclamation and it tells me "message not sent, select to review the message and to try again."

I opened an SMS message someone sent me and it asked if I wanted to send a reciept to them. I selected yes. Now it tells me message not sent (tap to view) when I tap it to view it, it tells me the message is not available. I have restarted my phone, I have pulled out the battery, deleted every SMS text I had and it is still there. How do I get rid of it?

I just spent an hour on the net researching the "Message not sent" problem. Even though the problem is not new at all (a year or more old), the only solution seems to be to reset the phone to factory default. This is an extremely severe operation and requires hours to restore the phone and apps configuration. I can not understand why people do not object to this vehemently. This is one of two problems (the other being music players automatically going on pause and losing the place in the music) that I am sure developers have know about for a long time. Users should be compensated for this lack of adequate functionality. Phone purchases are made in good faith with the assumption that basic features (and texting sure is a basic feature) work properly. If I were a lawyer I would look into a class action suit regarding these issues. It would seem to me that Google and/or Motorola (I think the problem may be in Android itself) would save money by fixing the problems in lieu of dealing with a lawsuit.
Let's see if this post is deleted by some "well meaning" moderator. That "solution" would be expected after the abuse we users have suffered.
