I'm looking for a global phone and the Motorola Droid will not be a global phone - is that correct?

Correct.

It is an All-Digital, 800/1900, CDMA EVDO rev A Device.

What is the meaning of "Global" with regard to a cell phone?

What are the implications of the Droid phone not being "Global"?

Thank you for answering...I travel internationally and really wanted to purchase this phone.  Will Verizon help me with a new SIM card or do you have another solution?

James, can you explain the rationale for not supporting global networks? I am incredibly disappointed and will have to switch networks.

James. I would like some more explanation as well. I travel internationally multiple times a year as well and I was excited for this phone. Why would Verizon not make this a feature on the Droid? This makes no sense.

Whats to explain?

The Droid is not a GSM phone. It will not work outside of north america.

If they release a GSM Droid, Then and only Then will you be able to use it Globally...
