Motorola Droid X not working after uploading a Verizon upgrade

This afternoon I was told that there was a new upgrade to my Droid X under "about phone" in settings. I uploaded it and now the phone fails to operate. Correction, I am able to get the phone into safe mode by following some earlier instructions, power off, hold the menu button and power on and the safe mode came up in the lower left corner of the screedn. The phone is still unresponsive and the screen goes black with the tool bar across the top. Again, all I can do is power the phone off by removing the battery and then powering it back up.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, looks like youre in a tough situation. I think you only have a few options, and you should decide for yourself which approach you're comfortable with. In order of EASIEST to DIFFICULT:

1 - Take it to a Verizon store and let them "reflash" your phone, or see if they have a tech that can figure it out.

2 - Perform a CLEAR Cache (one of the menu options using the proedure below)

3 - Perform a Factory Reset (see below)  ... if you go this path, you should read through this posting first.  A lot of it will apply, even though you can't get to the phone apps right now.  (e.g., Plug it into a wall outlet to do this!!!)

Good luck -- let us know what happens.

To get to a Factory reset  or Clear Cache using the Power up method:

1.  Power Off phone

2. Press & Hold the HOME Button

3. Press and Hold the Power ON button.

You come up to the Triangle with the Exclamation mark & android guy.

Press BOTH the Up and Down Buttons at the same time.  This brings up the Blue menu of options.

use the Up/Down arrows to scroll thru the choices. Press the POWER Button to Select the menu item you choose.
