Motorola Droid and recorded video/audio sync BUG

My DROID and a lot of other people's DROID is exhibiting an annoying bug when you record video. Anywhere from thirty seconds to two minutes into the video, there's about one second of bad distortion/pixelation (that you only see on playback) and from that point on in the video the video and audio are out of sync.
I have examples of this as it happens almost all the time (though not every single time) when I record video on my DROID.
Here is a thread where lots of other folks are having the same problem.
Here is another on the Motorola forums:
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/25430?tstart=0 - I started this thread but at the bottom another user reports having the same issue.
I have tried everything. Upgrading to 2.1 OTA, formatting the SD card, killing all running apps before recording video.. nothing works.
I went to my local Verizon store and they want to exchange my phone for a refurbished unit. I don't find this acceptable. I realize I am outside of my 30 days but I was sold a DEFECTIVE phone.
Will Verizon do anything to help me get a NEW DROID? I know that not all phones have this problem but my wife's DROID also has the same problem - we bought our phones the same day so this is probably a hardware issue that was in one lot of DROIDS during production of the phones.

What a shock.. nobody from Verizon will respond to my problem.
They're so GIANT that they just don't care about their customers.

I have the same problem. I have been so disappointed because of the defective function of droid. I am also surprised to find out that not many people are complaining about the issue. Very strange.
Is there any fix available for the problem somewhere? Are we the only ones who could not find the solution?

You could try doing a Factory Reset to clear up any corruption in the Video/Camera application.

I was wanting to know why when I record a video that I am not even able to send it to another person. It says that the file is to big. I have even recorded a video that was 3 sec. long. and still not able to send it.

The problem I am having is I transferred my videos from another phone to the droid and some of my videos will play the audio and some won't. All the extensions are .3gp but when I used the transfer tool for some reason the droid converts some of them to .MP4 file extension. I am not telling the program or phone to change the extension, it's doing it on it's own. Motorola has a program called Media Link, my pictures transferred just fine, my videos transferred just fine, like I said, the problem is 95% of my videos now have no audio. I can take that video with no audio and upload it to Facebook and it has audio. So Verizon said they can't help me, WHAT A SHOCK, Verizon can't do anything but sell phones!!! So I called Motorola support, they were busy and said a tech would call me back in 45 minutes, that was 2 1/2 hours ago. Why is it that there is no more pride in Customer Service? Sears is the same way, they sell a good product but their Customer Service stinks as well. I just want my videos audio to play and can't seem to get any answers, oh well.

Very sad verizon. Your response was to, " you could try" haaaaa " doing a factory reset" - why are we doing any reset - problem with the phone dameon?
They dont say it will fix they just lead you down another hole to investigate for them. Classic verizon. Sell the {word filter avoidance}
to us and then walk away from the problems. While we are stuck with your {word filter avoidance}
design and problems. I was sold a phone and apps that worked right, HAAAAAAA. I was sold a pretty phone that promised to do all these great things and now i have to spend my free time fixing your errors. very sad day for humans.
Hey Dameon why dont you come over and get my phone and try your convoulted ideas. Why are we, the consumer, wasting our time trying to figure out your problems.
