What part(s) of Europe are you traveling to?

I've been wondering that as well.
I'm heading to Spain and I believe that Spain is primarily GSM.
However, when I bought my Droid at the Verizon store, it had a label indicating it was 3G GSM (no CDMA specification, but I figured it could perhaps do that, too).
I was taken aback by the GSM listing.
Was it because I could do Skype on the DROID that it said GSM also?
Was it because there's something that allows data through EVDO to cruise over GSM?
So...what's the story?

I also noted many people talking about the Moto Droid being about the same as the Milestone in terms of hardware.
So can the Moto Droid handle 2G like GSM 850/900/1800 as well as CDMA?
Can it use Edge in Europe for data when it can't use 3G?
Some details on the milestone...
