I've had the Droid X for a week now, and every time I try to add my facebook account to the Social Networking or the Social Status widgets, I get an error message. Most of the time, it says "Error An internal server error occured. Please try again" Is anyone else having this issue? :smileymad:

I solved the problem. I had to go to facebook.com and turn on platform applications in my privacy settings.

Thanks for all the help! :smileyvery-happy:

Here are the steps for setting Facebook as a Social Network.  Hope this helps!

1. Set up Facebook as a Social Network to automatically receive updates and messages through your  homescreen widgets

  • To add Facebook to your Social Networking Accounts:
  1. Pull up your Applications menu and select My Accounts
  2. Select Add Account
  3. Tap on Facebook
  4. Sign into your Facebook account as normal and press next to sync.
  • To add Facebook to your Social Networking Accounts via Messaging Widget:
  1. Tap on Messaging Widget
  2. Select Add Account
  3. Tap on Facebook
  4. Sign into your Facebook account as normal and press next to sync.

2. Download a Facebook Application from the Android Marketplace.

Click Here for instructions on how to download an Android Marketplace Application for Facebook.

3. Use your phone's internet browser to access the Facebook website just like from your computer.

Facebook is a preloaded bookmark for the DROID X Android Browser.

  1. Tap on your Browser icon to begin to access the internet.
  2. Press the Menu button.
  3. Select Bookmarks
  4. Tap on existing Facebook bookmark to visit the Facebook website: touch.facebook.com
  5. Log in to website with your existing Facebook credentials.

I already knew those steps. When I follow them, I always get an error message.

Try signing out of your facebook account and go through theses steps. After going through the steps, go through the steps of adding the app as a social network.  Hope this helps!

  1. You will see a "star" alert in the Notification Bar. After pulling down the Notification Bar, customer will see a notice "Facebook username or password incorrect".

  2.  Click on the alert in the Notification Panel and will see "Facebook username or password incorrect. If you recently changed your password please re-enter the new password now."

  3. After clicking OK, you will go to the login screen and see dots in the password field.

  4. You will need to delete the dots, re-enter the password and press OK. You will need to re-log into Facebook.  If  you click on OK without deleting the dots and re-entering the password, you will be returned to the home screen but you will not be logged into Facebook. You will eventually see the star alert in the Notification Bar again.

That's impossible. Whenever I try to sign in to facebook, it doesn't work and I get the error message.

I should add, I've tried a factory reset of the phone, a battery pull, and updating the roaming capabilities of the phone.

Try deleting the application and re-install it.  The steps are below.  Hope this helps!

  1. From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).

  2. Touch Settings.

  3. Touch Applications.

  4. Touch Manage applications.

  5. Touch an application.

  6. Touch Uninstall.
Note The application depicted in the following images is only an example.

  7. Touch OK.

  8. Touch OK.

That's the exact same error I get whenever I try to purchase an app.

I called tech and they are sending me a new phone....in a few weeks.

Hi,

I was having the same problem. I was hoping that the problem would be resolved

with the Android 2.2 update, but was not.

As you found, the problem was the FaceBook Platform Applications setting being

disabled. Enabling them (the default) has this working properly now.

Thanks!
