Motorola "M" symbol on screen

Phone is charged, I can't access the phone touch screen with the settings or Home buttons. The"M" symbol just stays there no matter which keys or power buttons I push.  Any Ideas before I take it back to Verizon?

Sound like your phone may have hit a boot loop, try pulling the battery for a minute and then place it back in and restart, I believe it shoiuld be ok after that.

Taking the battery out and replacing it did the trick. Makes me wonder about this phone at only 2 days old. Thank You for the help, but I should have known this knowing electronics lockup all the time. I dont know if I made the right choice for a phone.

I really wouldnt write the phone off already, I have had mine from realease day and I have only had to do a battery pull maybe once or twice both times do to a isssued app.... Take in concideration that you could have a uncompatible app installed (Usually Is), I make it a habit if device locks regularly to check the last app that I installed, if problem continues sometime removing apps and checking system again is required.

Android is open source and developers cant always verify how capatible that their app may be with the 1000's of other apps existing.

After being a Windws Mobile user for so many years, android does not have any issues compared to the number of times I had my WM devices lock up, also if you read the number of BB users that complained about there devices locking up and requiring battery pull, I am happy to be on a Android device.

I love my Droid X and wouldnt go back to a Windows device if I recieved it free as a gift:smileysurprised:.... You made the right decision because this device is incredible.

Bootup loops/battery pulls are very rare, but do happen. I had to pull my battery once for such an occurrence. However, let me put your mind at ease. Yes, you made the right choice. Compared to some of the other "smart" phones, the Droid X  would be considered a genius. Look at some of the Blackberry blogs, makes your blood run cold. Even a couple of Android phones are in much worse shape than the X. As for Window based phones, I shall make no comments. I think that as time goes by, you will love your Droid X. Good luck.

Got Droid X on 11-12-10 . . . worked fine for texts & calls. Yesterday I tried to take a video – got message that said no SC card & not enough internal memory.

So I took off the battery & took out sd card and replaced sd card & battery.

When I turned it on the screen would only show the round Motorola symbol. I put it on the charger for a while – nothing. Took it off charger, & repeated the steps above. After about 30 minutes, the phone screen came up normal.

I tried video again and it worked (recognized SD card, I guess).

Next morning (this morning) I realized that I could not hear or be heard during calls – no sound is coming from phone other than when I turn it off or on. I could send texts. I didn’t check video or music capability at that point.

Then repeated the take the battery out/in and now it has been sitting with the Motorola symbol on for more than an hour.

The only apps I have installed are Google Sky, MSN Droid X, and Kindle.

Update: just took battery out & left it out for 20 minutes and now the cell APPEARS to be working. I am not sold on the Droid yet . . . . I wonder how Droid Pro users are fairing . . .

So I have a simliar problem but still can't find a solution. I was talking when my battery died, i plugged it back in tried to turn it on, or maybe the other way around but it got stuck on the "m" motorola screen.  I let it charge then tried turing on again same thing, then tried to take battery out, same thing, hard reset wont work stays on same screen, any ideas left?  It does seem like its working but the screen is locked, its like working in the dark, and i got a password on it which makes turning it off/or anything hard when screen is froze like this.

When you got the device was the device preloaded with 2.2 or did you have to update the device because the issues you are reporting has been related to the update process,,,
