anyone know how to move a music file?  I bought a song from amazon, and it was placed in a file in the "File"' app -

but I can't figure out how to move it to the MP3 player app.

Hmmm... I'm sure I'm not using the correct terminology...OK, it must be the music player that I am talking about -

when I click on it, at the top, I can select, "artists, albums, songs, or playlists."  If I click on any of these options, I do not see the latest downloaded song to select to play.

But, when I am in the applications list, I click on files, and I find my music file, the song IS listed there.  I see the option to move something - but I don't see a way to move it to the music player.

From what you are saying, it sounds like I shouldn't even need to do this.  So I really have no Idea how I have screwed this up.

Do you have other songs in the player?  If so, see if you can find where they are on the file system (using  the File application) and move the song to the same directory.    My songs are all in my_music at the root of the sdcard (unlike the previous poster I just have a flat structure there) but the players are pretty flexible.  If you don't have a my_music folder, see if you have a media one.

As an aside, you can also replace the stock music player with apps from the market.  There are a number of much better ones there.

What do you mean it's in the file app and you want to move it to the mp3 app? Files are in directories not apps. The music player will find and play all mp3's on the device no matter the location. I put all of my music in "my music" under subdirectories named for the artists.

Its very strange  - I do have two other songs in the music player, and when I look in the files - there is a "music" file, in that file, there are 3 subdirectories - one actually says "amazon mp3", and all 3 songs that I have downloaded are in there, but the newest is not on the music player.  I think I might just go to the "market" and find a new app.   Thank you all for your help.

You might try restarting you phone. The music player is supposed to find all the music regardless of where it is.

Yes, on Player Pro there is a "refresh" button that finds all the music, didn't see anything like that on the stock player.  So rebooting the phone (or maybe just stopping and restarting the music app) seems to be the option.
