Transferring contacts from Outlook to Droid without using Google is pretty easy.

Connect your Droid using the usb cable and open the SD card.

Go to outlook and choose contacts. Select all of your contacts by clicking the first contact, scroll down, hold the shift key, and select the last contact. They should all be highlighted now.

Right click on any of the contacts, choose send as business card. Your outgoing email should pop up and all of your contacts should show up as attachments.

Highlight all of the attachments, and copy/paste them to the SD card on your Droid.

After the paste is complete go to contacts on your Droid, hit menu, settings, more. Hit import/export and select import from SD card.

Playing .mp4 files. Initially I could play MP4 files from the gallery but could not play them by tapping the files in the files app. I figured out the reason was that the Droid files app doesn't like the .MP4 extension, it prefers .mp4. Once I changed the extension, I could tap the files from within the files app and they play through the gallery.

The email app (not gmail) with pop3 doesn't delete the emails from the server.

It also isn't smart enough or give the option to go back to the inbox or close an email after replying or forwarding an email. That sucks too.

Shortcuts: I have a ton of word documents that were previously notes on my SD card. I can't find a way to create a shortcut to the folders on the SD card. Work around was adding quick office to the home screen.

The home screen doesn't turn to landscape mode.

Adding pictures to contacts. I couldn't get it to work when selecting pics from the files app, but worked fine when selecting from the gallery.

The gallery. I can't see how to create separate folders and not display every single image it can find.

Live wallpaper. I like it.

Voice command. On Windows mobile, it can be set to announce incoming messages. Not needed but pretty cool. Droid doesn't do it.

you should be able to go into your settings for your email account on your pc and get it to delete from the server when you pull the email.....if that is what you'd like. at least, that's where i've always told it NOT to delete from server (i use outlook on my pc).

I don't use outlook on my PC for my emails because it would download all of my emails and they would disappear from my Omnia.

I mostly use my phone for my email.

I found that if the keyboard is open the home screen switches to landscape.

Per Verizon Customer Support, there is no option to delete email on the server for POP3 accounts (Hotmail).  The best solution they recommended was to forward your email to gmail, which does offer an option to delete mail on the server.  Furthermore, they suggested that a future software update could solve the problem, but I was the first person to notice this oversight.

Hope this info helps...

I dont know if this is at all helpful, but I find the default email app to be pretty terrible. You could try K-9 mail, I can confirm that it works well with my hotmail account.

Thanks.

I tried that. I couldn't see any folders other than the inbox and maybe one other. Since I can't create other folders in K9 I may as well use the default app. I just reset my phone to get rid of my google info. I was using gmail since it has alternate folders (labels), but it doesn't delete my emails from the server, so once again, I may as well use the default app.

Another observation.

The camera is horrible. I just took a picture of my cat and it is extremely grainy. The pictures taken with my Omnia were totally clear even at a distance.

I take quite a few pictures using my phone. The Droid 2 may have to go back just due to the horrible camera.

You ust have POP3 e-mail - IMAP would avoid the download and gone issue.

if you can switch over to imap, that should alleviate the issue.  I don't recall pop3 on my bb beign able to delete things off the server either, had to move my gmail accounts to imap to have that support.
