I thought I'd share my experience so far with my DInc, since it might help others who are having problems. I got my DInc around May or June of this year, and I thought it was pretty awesome--much better than the clunky Samsung Omnia running Windows Mobile 6.1. I did notice that it rebooted on its own once or twice, and I also noticed rare problems with switching home screens on its own (which I think was due to dust on the optical mouse). But on the whole, the phone worked well.
Then I updated to Froyo, and relatively soon after, the phone started to have more frequent reboots--it seemed to be related to the phone overheating, typically when the mobile network or wifi was on for more than 10-20 minutes. I tried uninstalling apps, changing from live wallpaper to static wallpaper, and finally doing a hard reset--nothing helped.
Finally, I called Verizon and complained about the frequent reboots--clearly, this problem makes the phone unusable. The customer service agent I talked to was quite friendly, and without much hesitation offered to send a replacement phone. I have been using this new phone (with Froyo) for about a week now, and so far no random reboots--really, no problems at all. It's back to being the awesome device that it was to begin with. Makes me think that many of the problems that people have is related to the actual upgrading process from 2.1 to 2.2, and that the phones that are originally flashed with 2.2 don't have as many problems.
Interestingly, the Verizon agent I spoke with claimed that he hadn't heard about random reboot problems, despite the many posts on these forums; however, he was quick to offer a replacement phone after I told him I had tried a hard reset. I'm guessing that the agents are trained to say that they are unaware of any problems because they don't want to admit that there are problems--but the fact that he offered a replacement phone so quickly essentially reveals that Verizon has been getting a lot of these kinds of complaints.
So what I would suggest to DInc owners who are having problems (especially after the Froyo upgrade) is to call Verizon, complain about the problem you have, tell them that you tried a hard reset without success, and ask for a replacement phone. It's a pretty easy process--they send you the replacement via FedEx, then you return your current phone in the same box--they cover the cost of shipping.
Hope this helps!

Yeah, I've read in numerous other posts that the replacement phones are usually refurbished. But I've also read that the refurbished phones are often more reliable. I'm not sure how they refurbish them, but I'm guessing that they completely wipe the ROM, and then flash it with Froyo, instead of doing the OTA upgrade, which I'm suspecting is what causes a lot of the problems. Anyway, hope your Like New phone is Like Awesome.

Same experience here, massive increase in reboots after update to 2.2, hard reset helped but did not eliminate, so after relating this to the first level person at VZW, the 2nd level support person had only one suggestion: send me a new (refurbished) phone.
I hope my experience from here on out matches yours.

I received a referb Dinc as a replacement for an eris. It came already flashed for 2.2 and has perfomed flawlessly sor the 3 weeks that I've had it. Needless to say I'm loving life again. If you think the problems were bad with the Dinc consider yourself lucky that you didn't have a eris, the update totally screwed that phone up. I'm wondering if the over the air updates are the problem with some of these phones. Maybe they should switch to an update through the website using your PC in the future.

Quick update on my original post--it's been about 3 weeks since I got my replacement phone, and so far everything is going very smoothly. I think there may have been one random reboot, but otherwise I have noticed that I can use the phone for extended periods on wi-fi or mobile network without overheating or rebooting. I'll keep updating this thread from time to time.

I have had similar problems with my Incredible overheating, rebooting, deleting and force closing apps.... I finally went to Verizon today and they had no tech support at all. So much for going in person to get help. They put me on the phone with Customer Service who only told me this sounds like a Google problem, but they could help me factory reset. Then we got cut off...
I was so upset that I ordered a new one since mine was still under warranty and there seemed to be no one there willing to help me sleuth out my problems.
My new one comes in a day or two. I have factory reset my old one and it still overheats within about 30 minutes of use even with only the original settings. I am so hopeful that my new one solves my problem as it did for you. They seemed more than happy to replace at the store, possibly because of the frequency of complaints?? Not sure, but my fingers are crossed....
Thanks for the info and keep us all updated!

Another update on my replacement phone--2 months now, and it's been pretty smooth and stable. It did glitch out a little bit with the most recent minor update (a couple of freezes and reboots), but then seems to have righted itself again, which adds to my suspicion that this phone (and possibly Android phones in general?) does not like to be updated.
Battery life continues to be decent (I have a 1750 mAh Seidio battery)--I typically keep mobile network and GPS off unless I need it, and update things like Weather and Calendar manually, so that the phone isn't wasting energy trying to update on a schedule. Performance continues to be snappy, so if any of the Verizon killer crapps like CityID are causing slowdown, I haven't noticed it.
Overall, I still really like this phone, and hope I don't have any of the various problems that others on this forum commonly report.
