I got a new DroidX, as my last one was freaking out, we thought this would solve the problem, but it doesn't. The phone knows it is attached to the laptop, but the laptop does not see the phone. I tried to install the MotoConnect software. It gets to the last one , which is MTP or MTPS (computers.....not my strong point) and it can't install that. The peeps at the Verizon store have no clue. They want to do a hard reset, that is their favorite thing to do. Anyone know what is going on?

You installed the MOTO driver for the phone, right? I'm not sure, but I don't think just installing the MOTO Media Link s/w will install the driver. You should be able to download the driver from the MOTO site where you got the Media link s/w.

There is a number of items that can cause this issue... Have you checked cable because I had a bad cable, also I ecperianced the same issue because of apps that I installed.... Does the device read on other pcs? You may have something like a firewall or antivirus app that may be blocking driver installation also.

Here's a thought, when you connect the USB cable, do you get a USB icon onthe notifictions bar? if so open he bar and tap the icon, it should have several different opeions to pick from, such as PC Only, Windows Media sync, charge only, etc. Try a different one, or all of them andf see what happens.

Sorry, Guess I have got to point that I figure this as a instincted situation but this could be the issue that I was overlooking... May want to try this first.
