My droid says that I have no sim card, what does that mean?

Hi, when I press the bottom at the too of my phone, it says that I don't have a sim card. I had the same droid a few months ago, but I had to get a new one. The old one had a sim card and this one doesn't have one.  I am trying to upload pictures from my phone onto my macbook, and I do not think that  I am going to be able to upload pictures on my computer without the sim card, am I right?  I looked online and it said that in order to upload pictures, I have to plug the phone into my computer using a USB chord, so I used the chord that's attached to my charger because my charger consists of two parts: the chord can disconnect from the part that plugs into the wall.   I really need help with this in order to do a homework assignment so please help me.

Which model of phone do you have again? I don't think the DROID X had a SIM card as it wasn’t a global phone. It does have a micro SD card plus an internal storage space for pictures, music, etc.

Connecting an android phone to a Macbook requires a few more steps. Try a search of this community for similar discussion of how to do so. I don't have an Apple product to give you any more suggestions.

This sounds so bad, but I am not sure of the DROID that I have. I thought it was a DROID X but maybe it's a DROID 2 or something….thank you for answering me!

Go to settings > about phone to see if it lists the model name of the phone. You might also find the model number in the battery compartment.

The older Droids (without 4G) that have SIM cards are the Droid 2 Global and the Droid 3.  But as others have said, it's the SD card that you need to transfer stuff, these SIM cards are used only outside the US.

Now if it's a newer Droid, there are several models, as they all use SIM for 4G.  Can you make calls with the phone?  If so, and it really doesn't have a SIM, it won't be one of these.
