My phone completely died and will not turn on

I was using the navigation on my phone while is was plugged in charging in my car. I turned off the navigation, unplugged it and put it in my bag. The next time I looked at it was completely dead, will not turn on, and won't even charge. I've taken the battery out and put it back in, and still nothing. What do I do?
