With all the new smart phones, 29.99 per line for the data plan really starts adding up. How about a family-share data plan?

Agreed, or at least make it a bit cheaper... like 30 USD the first line, 20 USD the second, 15 USD the rest

I still don't understand how they can get away with charging the data package for each phone. We have comcast internet, and 4 computers on our network... but only pay 1 fee for internet. Why can't the data plan be the same?

the reasoning will probably be 'network resources' or something to that effect. w/ Comcast you are paying for internet access through a very wide "pipe" for your household not for an individual.
but I agree w/ everyone!

yeah a network in your home isnt the same as 5 phones using data, i got suddenlink cable and internet period how i spilt or split it up to me but there is only the one line running to my house even though i have several tvs using the cable and several computers on a network the pipeline they offer is still the same....no with smartphones you have as much data you want for 30 bucks as a customer of course i dont like paying a premium for everything but i know if i ran the company and thier is only so much airspace to go around i couldnt in my right mind have 5 devices sucking unlimited data at the price of one ...now if you could buy data say like 1 gig a month for 50 bucks that could be split however among a family that would be great but as long as they get away with top dollar thats what we will pay ....

1gig of data is not very much. I have been billed twice since I got my X (first smartphone) and I have used almost 4 gigs the first month, 3 gigs the second month. My billing cycle is almost up, and I will havec used between 3-4 gigs this month too

It's an idea for capped data to be split up btw phones, the cap would have to be at least 4 gigs IMHO. Its easy to get up to 6GB in a month if you stream music all day.

oh for sure i was just trying to lay out the scenario but if there is a cap or possibly have you prepay for data then i think that would boost smartphone use across the board

I agree. Verizon needs to quit ripping people off and offer a family data plan. I have 4 ----- yes, 4 smart phones on my plan and can barely afford it. I will have no choice but to look at other companies who are now offering family data plans. Come on Verizon, help out your customers here.
