Need help with international settings for texting only

I will be out of country next week and would like to receive and send texts only. Im confused about the settings I should have:

Background data: off

Data roaming: off

Data enabled on ??

Is that correct? I dont want to incur alot of data for my apps, etc. I just want to receive texts and maybe send a couple.

I spoke with the local guy and he did activate my phone for international use apparently so is there anything else I'm missing?
