Need help with updating an app

The My Verizon app on my phone is not working correcty. When I try to use it I get a message that says there is an update available to go to the market and download the update. It also gives the option in the same window to select "upgrade" or "cancel". When I select upgrade nothing happens and the phone returns to the home screen.

I decided to just try and update the app by using the market app. When I click on the market app I get a screen that says loading for about 1/2 second and the phone then goes back to the home screen. I really would like to use the My Verizon app to help keep track of my data usage but unable to because I can't get the update. If that's the actual problem here.
