I bought a new 3500 mAh battery for my Samsung charge phone and so far it is working fine. Remember, you can never have to much battery power!
By the way, my phone did NOT say that it was an unauthorized battery. This surprised me because a few days ago when I removed and reinstalled my official authorized Samsung 2600 mAh battery my phone said that it was an unapproved battery and the phone cannot charge it but luckily my phone changed its mind about 3-4 minutes later.
It is 1/32 of an inch thinner than my Samsung 2600 mAh battery. It comes with a new phone back which I used because this battery is a bit thinner than the previous battery and I do not want it to slide loose.
If you want to see where I bought it go to eBay and search using: Samsung Charge 3500 battery. Just by random choice I bought the one that has the black and white colored label. There also is one that has an orange, black and white label. The prices range from $20 to $50. Make sure you get one that includes the new phone back.
CHARGING IT: Upon receipt you MUST charge it for 5 and maybe up to 10 hours BEFORE you start "using it" in your phone. I charged mine overnight before using it in the phone. Just plug it in and go to bed!
I will follow up on this 3500 mAh battery.

The newer battery tech tends to be thinner then the old style extended but still thicker then 1600mah. Which brand did you get? I got a 3200 mah that is thicker then stock but not to thick. It also seems to not heat up as much as the stock.

Houston,
There isn't any brand name on it. Other than Li-ion 3.7VDC 3500mAh and Made in China all it says is Replacement For SAM Droid Charge i510. It has a Black and White printed label.
So far the for first 24 hours it only went down to 66%, that is, after my initial overnight charge before starting to use it. I have not noticed any heat.
If you want a photo of this battery send me a private message with your email and I'll send you one.

I forgot to mention the really small 110 volt battery charger I bought at the same time I bought my 3500 mAh battery. Just plug it in the wall socket and place the battery in the charger. It's the one I used to charge the 3500 mAh battery before I put it into the phone. I just ordered a second one to keep in our motorhome. Great buy for $5.00 and it works just fine..
If you have any interest go to eBay and put item number 190569678210 into the search field. You better rush because they only had 40 left after I bought mine...Ha Ha Ha

It is now 3 days with my new (no brand name) 3500 mAh battery and it is working well. In fact it's working great. I can see and feel that it is more powerful (long lasting) than my previous Samsung 2600 mAh battery. Glad I bought one.

Is the 2600 battery the same size as the stock one in the droid charge?

No, I have the 2600 I bought from the Verizon store and it is bigger than the stock and requires you to buy a bigger door.

Have you used your charge in the desk or car mounts? Does it still fit with the larger battery installed?

Rickjr,
No I haven't because I do not have either a desk or car mount. Unless there is extra space the phone may not fit because with the 3500 mAh battery and the new phone back the phone is now 3/4 of an inch thick. Also, it now weighs 7 ounces.
So far so good. The battery lasts much longer between charges and it charges up to 100% very quickly.

Since this is still an issue, I'm going to suggest that those interested in possibly generating a resolution might also post to the Android Code Issues page:

I have used the 3500mAh battery for over 6 months and it has worked perfectly. The pictures show the battery and the extra thicknes of the Charge phone with the battery installed.

Sorry, it was so long ago I do not remember where bought it. I did measure both my 2600 and 3500 batteries and the 3500 is 1/32nd of an inch thinner than the 2600 but you will need a new Phone back with either one.
I suggest you go to eBay and look or just google "Samsung 2600 battery." There are 3500 mAh batteries on eBAY, just like the picture I included, for $10 including a new phone back.

I bought mine 3500 MAh from Trexcell at Amazon.com for under $10 now see it for $15. I did have a problem with it saying invalid battery and I contacted the distributing store and they sent me another one right away. They indicated that it was probably the chip in battery. It was a good thing too because the case that came with battery broke on the first dropping of the phone. The second one too got a crack right away so I had to get a rubberized protector for it, Since then no problems.

where did you buy the 3800 mah battery you have pictured? Is it still working good for you. I just got a droid i510 as a handmedown and it needs a battery. I am not a real heavy user but want to get one that I don't have to charge every night.
It appears that yours fits the bill. Great post you have on this subject. THanks in advance.

Hi! I just got my Droid Charge about 6 months ago, and as soon as I figure out how everything works (my first Smart
Phone) I'll be in better shape to comment. So far, so good, though. At first I had a battery problem of going dead overnight
even with the phone powered off. They sent me a free replacement battery, which was not a Samsung, it is a LENMAR, a
compatible replacement for Samsung. The odd thing is the OE Samsung battery is 1600 mAh, while the LENMAR battery
is only 1300 mAh. Not being an electrical engineer or whiz, it seems I went down in power, but I can see no ill effects.
Now you tell me about a 3500 mAh battery with prices all over the board from various suppliers, including our friends (?)
from China. I have nothing against the Chinese, other than I'm sick and tired of everything I pick up says "Made in China"
on it. What's wrong with "Made in USA", which used to be on everything? I think our elected officials in Washington need
to do what the people of this country voted them in to do, and stop playing politics, and stop caring only for themselves.
Sorry about that! Anyway, what's the deal about using a 3500 mAh battery (which changes the size of the phone) over
the standard 1600 mAh or even a 1300 mAh battery? I'm still new with this Smart Phone regimen, but learning more every
day.
Is this battery available as a Verizon option, just in case there is a problem? Thanks for all of the good info.
