New Droid

Well I am finally going to move into a smartphone and have been thinking about the DroidX. I currently have an LG Dare. Do you think I will be happy moving into this phone over the Dare? I'm totally new to the smart phones.

Yes! I progressed from the Dare to the Chocolate Touch to the Droid X. I don't know how I lived with out it.

I've just moved up from an LG Voyager. The Droid X is an amazing device. It literally is a hand held computer. You won't want to put it down once you start playing with it. It is quite addicting. And oh yes, it makes phone calls too. :smileysurprised:

I went from the LG DARE to the DROID X as part of the NE2 program ....   I LOVE the DROID X !!!!  It is soooo cool. I've had none of the problems that various people have reported here or on the MOTO forum.

My only complaint is that connecting to my computer to use the Motorola or Verizon Media Manager sucks - just flat out doesn't work ... Droid goes into a perpetual loop of mounting/unmounting SD Card  I can only connect using using "MY COMPUTER"  ..  (and yes, I have the correct MOTO driver installed - uninstalled and reinstalled it in fact.)  My DARE was a piece of cake to connect and manage my music & pics.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. You make it easy to move up to a smart phone. I played with one at work that an employee has (DroidX) and was amazed at the technology. I know the phone is large but I have large hands and it fits like a glove. It seems like a really cool phone.

Droid X works with Window Media Player.

The size of the screen has been an awesome thing to have for me. When I am at home, I can do all of my "casual" surfing on the X instead of having to drag out one oid my notebooks, unless I have some businesses with to do. And on shows or on location, I can still use it for a lot of online stuff.

And it is the first and only smartphone that I haven't wanted to dump after 4 months, including the iPhone.

Just remember that you battery life will not be like a non-smart phone.

I have read and noticed that as well. It looks like a daily charge for me and having this computer in my hand I can see why. I will just have to readjust my charging habits:smileytongue:

As with most smartphones, they require a daily charge.  But it's not as drastic as some people think.  With regular use as a phone with texting, calling and occasional internet check, and several facebook checks I still  end the night with 50-60% charge.  However, if you are going to use a lot of data it's a good idea to plug it in while doing so.

Just to give you an idea, I have several chargers.  One @ computer desk, one on nightstand, one in each car and one next to my chair where I watch TV.  I've made it a habit to plug it in often as I stream video etc most days.
