Hello and thank you for your posting about your Yahoo account after updating your device. Thanks to the community for your input as well. I understand how important it is to receive your emails in a timely manner. 

 

After an update, Yahoo email sometimes needs to be removed and then readded to the device in order to sync with the device again. 

 

To remove the Yahoo account, please follow these steps:

 

Press Menu

Press Settings

Press Accounts

Highlight the Yahoo account

Select Remove

Select OK

 

To readd the Yahoo account, these are the steps:

 

Press Menu

Press Settings

Press Accounts

Press Add Account

Press Email

Enter your login credentials

Press Next

Allow the email account to configure

 

I have found that this is the best way to fix the issue with Yahoo accounts. Once readded, you will most likely see emails coming in right away. Please post back with your results.

Immediately downloaded and installed it. It did NOT fix the alarm clock problem.

Milton, it clearly says that the upgrade is to fix connection problems with email servers.  Hopefully, they'll get out another update soon to fix some of the things Gingerbread broke.

So, funny thing........... My email worked before the update but now after the update when I try to add my yahoo account for example I get a message saying "Cannot connect to server. Your server is not responding.

I use my local telephone company for my email I had to manually set it up and it was working fine but since the update I can not send any mail only receive I checked setting and made shore they are the same as before still can not send email but like I said I can still receive email any ideas on how to fix?

Hello vvrsvv,

 

I can understand how frustrating it must be to not be able to have your email working on your phone.

It's definitely something that can be fixed.

 

I have seen this happen before with software updates; especially with the local cable company email.

 

It would be best to contact the email provider/cable company in order to make sure you have the correct settings in order to delete & re-add the email address back to the phone. 

 

Did you only verify the settings or did you remove the email account and re-add it?

Make sure you jot down the settings that have been given to you by the email provider prior to removing the email account.

 

Once you have re-added the email account, it should work flawlessly for you again.

Please note that some times a factory reset after a major software upgrade may resolve many issues as doing this will update or remove conflicting files from previous software version. For instructions to perform a factory reset on your Droid Incredible 2 please follow the instructions below:

 

Hard Reset - HTC DROID Incredible 2

 

Please keep in mind that performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications.

It is possible that the Yahoo issue is not related to the OS update.

There have been other posts for other phones that haven't received an OS update that Yahoo is not working for them either. It was also mentioned that Yahoo has been making server changes that have broken many user's ability to get their email on their phones.

Have you tried the Yahoo application or checked through the mobile browser?

I was able to use the "yahoo" app from the market and get my yahoo email just fine. Still cant set it up through the default mail app. No big deal I guess but I thought that is what the OTA update was suppose to fix. Mine was working fine before the update.

I'm glad you were able to successfully update your devices software!

 

However, there is no way to revert back to previous software versions once updated.  Are you experiencing any problems with your device since the device software update?

I also have begun having problems recently after update.  (Weather App and Settings app) aren now missing.  If i'm reading this correctly the only fix is to do a hard reset and lose all the apps that have been downloaded (some paid for) and repurchase them?  I've been holding off until there's better clarification but hard to do anything when you can't access your settings.

  • I have seen/heard several problems on my incredible.  I used to just get an alert for texts which was great - now I get alerts when I get emails too (in the middle of the night-don't like that).  If I have numerous texts or emails and only go in a read 1 or 2, the number on the front page goes away and looks like I have no more emails to read.  The reminder alarm doesn't continue to remind until I would dismiss it.  These are just a few things I have found so far - I am very frustrated with this update.

I understand your discontent with the issues outlined in your post after the software update. I have checked my resources and I learned that similar issues have occurred with other devices upon a software upgrade and a Factory Reset has resolved most post upgrade issues for other customers. Please do a Factory Reset as this may resolve your concerns.

 

Please keep in mind that performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications.

As long as you sign into the same Google account, your purchased applications will be available for download. You do not have to repurchase the applications.

Since this software update was installed, my phone now makes a notification sound when I unlock the screen -- in spite of the fact that the "Screen lock sounds" setting is still unchecked.  If I check the box, I get a click in addition to the new sound.  Have tried shutting down and restarting the phone - no help. How can I get rid of this? Why would a software update to improve connectivity with servers implement a change like this?

Every Since the upgrade my weather app has been giving me issues where it wont update on its own. Most of the time I have to tell to turn on the gps for it to know my currect location and also, open it up for it to have any weather info.

 

 

Also I cant access my alarm clock on the same widget.

I would be glad to help. Its very frustrating to have the locking sound with the notification not checked. Did this start happening after an application was downloaded? If you turn the device in safe mode can you duplicate the issue? That will determine if its the device or application causing the issue If it happens in safe mode please hard reset the device or if you can't find the application that caused this. Please back up the device prior to hard resetting.
