New To Community, 1st Smartphone! "PLZZZ HELP!!!!"

This phone is way more phone than I need or have used and is causing me a great amount of anxiety.  I picked from 2 phones, this and the iPhone.  I chose X2 because I had  bought the touch, gen. 4, 64 gb.  I knew the iPhone would be easier for me to learn to use but couldn't see the point having the ipod.  I haven't a clue, for example, what is the difference between downloading apps or browsing with the 3G or wi-fi. I really want to love it since it's my for the next 2 yrs.

Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The Android devices are definitely a lot of phone (I dig'em). I will have a couple of helpful hints for you in a moment, but as for your question: start from the position of how you are connecting to the internet browser, market, or email. You are either using 3G (VZW's network) or Wifi. Both allow you to connect to the internet in general, but VZW's side will likely have a data cap that can be gone over. As for downloading apps or browsing, browsing is merely the act of viewing the various aspects of the internet, whereas downloading apps will push the programs to your phone. Hope that helped.

For your first time on an Android phone, my initial advice would exhort you to use your phone. Every free moment you have until you are comfortable, use the device - surf the web, download applications, check email. While there are many different ways we can learn, we usually respond best to visual and hands-on styles. The internet browser and email are pretty straight-forward, but the market and apps are where you will likely spend a lot of time.

If you want some good, free apps to download, check this list out:

-Google Earth

-Google Sky Map

-Angry Birds Space

-Draw Something

-Ringdroid (creates ringtones from MP3s)

-Pandora

-Epicurious (recipes app)

Google Play has a website that can be used to search for apps, if you do not want to use the market on your phone:

http://play.google.com

I hope you enjoy your device.

You can watch some tutorials on Verizon's website if you like. They give you the basics. Android can be as simple or as complex as you make it.
