This phone is an absolute joke, ive had three in a month. Now insurance only allows two per month and the way verizon and motorola have there policys set up you will get no help at all. a 100 dollar deductible becomes very pricey. the durability of this phone is an absolute joke porcelain is stronger than there false advertisement of a strong "Gorilla glass"  i was visiting oregon and due to the cold outside (at about 20 degrees)returning inside to about 75 degrees caused the screen to crack can you believe that mess. so i called and talked to them and it was to no avail. they must of done a lot of testing on this phone and it must of failed every time because they state no physical damage can be present znd this id where we the consumer are being robbed because i still had the plastic cover that it comes in the box on it. Ive only had it for days before this taken place. so being that i am originally from california i grinned and just let them ream me, through insurance i got my second one and 11 days later it had the black screen of death so again hassled with verizon hassled with motorola sent it in and they returned it not fixed and said they couldnt do anything with it because when the screen goes black the bottom three homne buttons are supposed be able to light up. and when they checked those three stupid little buttons did not light up.so i got accused of some sort of physical damage must of been doe and i bluntly told threm do you see any physical freakin damage and theyaid no but you could of dropped it and thats why the buttons lit up and thats where i should of listened motorola and verizon both know that when this is dropped the first time it breaks like it is almost bult to do that. again wheres the durability. so my gf said shell pay the insurance that it has to be just luck so the third came in my third ultra in less in 15 days. so 7 days went by everything seemed to be fine got out of the car put my phone in my pocket put my car keys in my pocket and just from that just from my car keys into my pocket again this piece of crap phone and this gorilla glass stuff the screen cracked just from my car keys in my pocket by this time i am raging i call motorola we know what they said insurance said my two claims are up and that i i could pay the 175 to do something so i shook my head went back to the verizon store and believe it or not the first 10 peop[le in front of me all were returning there droid ultras. all with craacked glass one lady said hers cracked just from charging it another gentleman said when he answered with his thumb it cracked theglass. ive never seen so many un happy customers another lady was so furios shcancelled her whole account with them right there on the spot and said even the charges for early cancellation its not as bad as dealing with a comnpany who knowingly would put thier customers in a financial bind is worth leaving. So again boycott this phone. later today my bf and i will be printing out flyers and posting them at local retuarants and starbucks and stuff through the inland empire and riverside counties. its sad to see a company like verizon who we have had our plans for years with wouild knowingly allow this to happen to customers who they supposedly value you so much, So now after a total of 400 dollars and years of service i have no phone. Definetly no customer satisfaction and more importantly a definite mistrust in a company i have valued for so many years..

I know a guy with the Ultra with no problems at all. This is the first forum post for this issue on the Ultra.

Not to poke holes in the story but you said "so my gf said shell pay...." and later stated "later today my bf and i.....
" So that doesn't make sense, you're apparently the gf and bf...........

Also with this being the first time this issue has appeared on the forum for this phone I find it highly unlikely that 10 other customers are returning the SAME phone at the SAME time for the SAME issue.......if it was that common the Ultra would already have tons of threads on the issue, which it doesn't. The Ultra actually at this present time has 9 threads total, none talk about the screen cracking, besides yours.

Good Luck

I'm sorry but this post seems filled with half truths and serious exagerations.  Checking many of the review sources around the web does not reveal any issues with the glass cracking other than if someone ran it over (actually saw that one in a forum).

I looked at the posts on the link you sent and there is all but a single post there about the Ultra and cracking glass.  When you drop a phone there is a 50% chance you will break the glass on it depending on what you drop it on.  So for the 2 complaints I have seen on this (yours and the one posted on the link) I am not sure where the epidemic is on this issue.  Thousands of these phones have been sold.

I have this phone and it is one of the best I have owned. I've owned HUNDREDS of cell phones because I used to sell them. Who puts keys in the same pocket as their phone. Who puts anything else in the same pocket the phone is in? That's just silly. ESPECIALLY keys or any other item that could possibly scratch the screen. (removed) This phone is incredibly durable and mine has taken drops and other accidents like a champ. (removed)
