No touch tones

I have a Droid 2 Global, and it no longer sounds any touch tones when dialing a number. Yes, I have "Audible touch tones" checked in the serttings. Yes, I've removed the battery and restarted the phone. It's annoying, and it used to work so does anyone have any ideas on what might be wrong? All other audio is working fine.

Grasping at straws here... Have you tried adjusting the volume while in the dialer? I think that keypresses are counted as media, and you could have your media volume down and all of the others still up?

Next step is to restore factory defaults, which sounds like using a wrecking ball to kill a fly.

As indicated by jasnmar (thank you!) a factory reset would be the next troubleshooting step to correct the issue outlined on your post. To reset your phone to factory settings, touch Menu > Settings> Privacy > Factory data reset > Reset phone.
